Always calm under pressure, Nefertari Vivi, Princess of Alabasta, is a gifted problem solver in ONE PIECE. When things don’t work out, she doesn’t give up. She simply tries to find another way forward and continues the fight, which Luffy, captain of the Straw Hats, greatly admires. Following her father’s example as a humble and gracious ruler, Vivi takes her leadership role very seriously and is willing to do anything, including going undercover as a Baroque Works agent known as Miss Wednesday, for the good of her kingdom.
“I think Vivi, she does bring something new, which is the skill of diplomacy,” says Charithra Chandran, who plays Vivi, in the sixth episode of ONE PIECE: Into the Grand Line: Official Podcast. “She knows how to negotiate. She knows how to keep her cool in stressful situations. And I think she has a lot of foresight about how best to achieve the goal at hand, even if in the short term it requires sacrifice.”

While undercover as Miss Wednesday, Vivi favors peacock slashers as her weapon of choice, wielding them with skill and precision. She also sometimes employs the enchanting vertigo dance, which makes her opponents dizzy. In addition to the fighting prowess she honed as a Baroque Works agent, the princess is known for her strategic mind and her diplomacy.

As a child, Vivi was fascinated by her father’s work as a leader of the world’s government. While eavesdropping on a council meeting, she once watched him stand up to the tyrant King Wapol, expressing that a royal’s job is not about power but about listening to the voices of the people, which Vivi took to heart. After the confrontation, Wapol stormed out and slapped the young princess across the face, but she bravely de-escalated the conflict, showcasing her promise as a natural leader.
A decade later, Baroque Works starts sowing dissent between King Cobra and the citizens of Alabasta, pushing the country to the brink of civil war. So Vivi and Igaram, the Captain of the Royal Guard, go undercover within the criminal organization to bring them down. When their true identities are discovered, Igaram is killed, leaving Vivi to escape with the Straw Hats. Now, to save her kingdom, Vivi must return home and deliver intelligence to her father about the leader of Baroque Works.
