This article contains major character or plot details.

Rumi is the indomitable leader of HUNTR/X, the demon-hunting K-pop girl group whose fierce, synchronized choreography masks their true mission: protecting the human world from supernatural forces. Born a cambion — half human, half demon — to a legendary K-pop idol mother and a demon father, Rumi’s very existence is a contradiction. Her mother raised her to fight darkness, but her demonic blood gives her a power that is both a weapon and a curse. Rumi’s life is a balancing act between the idol she’s supposed to be and the monster she’s terrified of becoming.

Even if you’ve watched KPop Demon Hunters more times than you can count — and legions of fans have — there’s always more to learn about your favorite purple-haired singer and demon slayer. Read on for everything you need to know.

Rumi’s story arc

Rumi enters the movie shrouded in secrecy and discipline, a half-demon masking her true nature behind impeccable choreography and a righteous mission. Her clashes with Jinu challenge her to face the duality within herself, showing her that suppressing her demonic side only gives it more power. By the story’s end, she embraces both halves of her identity, harnessing her inherited demon-ness as a force for good and proving that who you are doesn’t dictate what you can fight for.
