Set five years in the future, Adam Berg’s dark thriller Black Crab imagines Sweden torn apart by a brutal civil war. Desperate to bring the conflict to an end and reunite with their loved ones, a group of six soldiers carrying a mysterious cargo embark on a dangerous mission to cross a frozen archipelago on ice skates. Caroline Edh (Noomi Rapace)

A renowned ice skater, Caroline Edh is thought to be the best hope for the success of Operation Black Crab. While she believes she’s on a suicide mission, Edh will risk everything for the chance to be reunited with her daughter, Vanja. Noomi Rapace became famous for playing Lisbeth Salander in the film and TV adaptations of Swedish author Stieg Larsson’s Millennium series. She also starred in Ridley Scott’s Prometheus and appeared alongside Will Smith in the Netflix modern fantasy movie Bright

Lieutenant Nyland (Jakob Oftebro)

Lieutenant Nyland is the first member of Operation Black Crab that Edh meets. A detour he takes on the way to their mission briefing makes her immediately mistrust him. Nyland and Edh repeatedly come into conflict as they fight for authority. Norwegian actor Jakob Oftebro appeared in the Academy Award-nominated movie Kon-Tiki and starred in the Danish war epic 1864.

Granvik (Erik Enge)

The youngest member of the team, Granvik enlisted in the army after experiencing the horrors of war firsthand. He is a skilled sniper and cares deeply about the welfare of his fellow soldiers. Swedish actor Erik Enge previously starred in Tigers, an adaptation of Swedish soccer player Martin Bengtsson’s autobiography.

Malik (Dar Salim)

A hockey player, Malik is a dreamer who loves talking about what he’ll do after the war. He encourages his fellow soldiers to do the same to provide them with motivation. Malik wants to reunite with his brother, watch hockey and open an antique store. Danish actor Dar Salim starred in Warrior, a Netflix series about a veteran who goes undercover to infiltrate a biker gang.

Lance Corporal Karimi (Ardalan Esmaili)

Lance Corporal Karimi believes strongly in military protocol, but his emotions cause him to make mistakes. He wants to get married to his girlfriend, a communications officer at an army base, and is very worried about her safety. Swedish actor Ardalan Esmaili is no stranger to thrillers, previously appearing in the series Greyzone, which focuses on the events leading up to a terror attack.

Captain Fosberg (Aliette Opheim)

A battle-scarred officer, Captain Fosberg is in charge of Operation Black Crab and carrying the team’s precious cargo. You can also see Swedish actor Aliette Opheim on Netflix in the drama Caliphate and the science fiction series Katla.

Colonel Raad (David Dencik)

The mastermind behind Operation Black Crab, Colonel Raad gathers a group of soldiers with ice skating backgrounds on a mission to end the war. He’s promised his recruits they’ll be free to leave the army if they’re successful and that Edh will be reunited with her daughter when they cross the ice. Danish-Swedish actor David Dencik played Mikhail Gorbachev in HBO’s Chernobyl and was one of the villains in the James Bond movie No Time to Die.
