Star Bryana Salaz heard one of her favorite songs in the On My Block spin-off — maybe you will too.

The entire Freeridge cast turns to co-star Bryana Salaz. The unforgettable music of their On My Block spin-off has come up, and, apparently, Salaz has been designated group spokesperson on the topic. The appointment is unspoken and unanimous.

“They all pointed at me because there was one moment we were going to dinner for someone’s birthday, and I was like, ‘Guys, I have to play you this song,’ ” Salaz, who plays headstrong little sister Ines, recalls to Tudum. The track was 2022’s “Cocoon” by one of her personal favorites, New Jersey electronic rapper 070 Shake (heard recently in Kid Cudi’s Entergalactic).

“It’s such a hard song,” Salaz enthuses — and the cast was unsurprisingly delighted to hear the long-beloved track close out Episode 3 of Freeridge. “That’s the one episode that we were all waiting to watch because we were so excited to see how that one came out,” she continues.

“Cocoon” bumps in the background as the Freeridge crew pieces together a few integral clues. Cracking open a hidden panel in a mystery box, Demi (Ciara Riley Wilson) finds a torn birthday card containing a note that reads, “Marisol, please come. I miss you,” signed by someone named Mariluna.

Up to now, the Core Four had assumed they were being haunted by the ghost of Marisol Martinez (Peggy Blow). This new figure turns their investigation upside down. “Who the hell is Mariluna?” is the final line of the episode.

The intense beats of “Cocoon” take viewers into the credits as 070 Shake fittingly sings, “Wait a second!” Recalling the needle drop, Salaz is still so excited by the kismet of it all that she can’t help but vocalize some of the bop. “That was such a cool freaking moment,” she says. “And that’s what I’m talking about with speaking things into existence. It’s a thing.”

Well, if you were hoping to manifest the entire Freeridge playlist into existence, you’re luckier than a quartet of kids at an uncursed yard sale. Look below for a playlist that’ll have you grooving like Gloria (Keyla Monterroso Mejia) and Rusty (Michael Solomon) in a backyard dance battle.
