Difficulty in finding true love is just part of the life of a showgirl — or showboy, as it were. This is the case in the film French Lover, which made its way to No. 1 on the non-English film list in its second week, garnering 12.3 million views. The film wooed audiences with its love story of a French movie star (Omar Sy of Lupin fame), who falls for a hapless waitress (Sara Giraudeau) who isn’t intimidated by his fame.

Viewers looking to start October with something spine-tingling gravitated to the new installment of Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan’s Monster anthology series. Monster: The Ed Gein Story, which debuted at No. 2 on the English TV list with 12.2 million views in its three-day opening weekend, stars Charlie Hunnam as the “Butcher of Plainfield,” whose crimes became the blueprint for modern horror. If you’ve seen PsychoThe Texas Chain Saw Massacre, or The Silence of the Lambs, then you’ve witnessed Gein’s influence on pop culture.

Another stop on the spectrum of thrilling watches is Mae Martin’s Wayward. The Canadian series reached No. 1 on the TV list for a second consecutive week, with 14.1 million views. It introduces us to Toni Collette’s unnerving youth counselor, Evelyn Wade, who oversees the mysterious school for “troubled teens,” Tall Pines Academy.

The week ended with a surprise cameo from KPop Demon Hunters’ singing stars EJAE, AUDREY NUNA, and REI AMI in an SNL sketch, highlighting just how much of a hold the film continues to have on fans everywhere. Viewers propelled the movie to No. 1 on the English film list once again, with another 18.1 million views.
