Joe: It was a past relationship that didn’t really work out, so it was probably time to leave San Antonio, yeah.
Madison: Oh, how funny. All our exes live in Texas.
Joe: OK, did you have an ex down there?
Madison: I did, yeah. That’s why I lived in Houston two years ago with my last relationship.
Joe: OK.
Madison: And you said that was three years ago?
Joe: That I broke up with her?
Madison: Sure, yeah.
Joe: Yeah, that was about eight months ago.
Madison: And how long were you guys together?
Joe: We were together for a little while, yeah. Uh…
Madison: How long?
Joe: Five years. And I guess I can throw something else at you.
Madison: Give me the baggage.
Joe: OK. We were engaged at the time, and … and, uh, broke it off. My heart wasn’t behind it. I was never as excited as I think I should have been. Like, I’m getting married to somebody, and I should be super excited and happy.
Madison: I understand getting out of something you thought was gonna be forever. I found out that my boyfriend, who I was also living with at the time, was gonna propose.
Joe: OK.
Madison: And it showed me so quickly, like you said, like, if you weren’t excited in that moment, like, it wasn’t right. I just totally empathize. Sorry you went through that, but I’m really happy that you’re here.
Joe: Yeah, I’m happy I'm here.
Madison: I’m happy that I am talking to you. You have a wonderful day and dates. [laughs]

Nikki: OK, how did you know when you met Al that, like, she was the one?
Anton: It was literally day one, and, like, we just hit it off. Like, we had some banter, and it was just, it seemed natural. She literally is the person I was looking for.
Nikki: What did your friends think of Ali? They like her?
Anton: Oh, yeah, they loved her. They had nothing but great things to say about her.
Nikki: Good, ’cause if they had bad things, we’d have a problem.

Anton: Should I? I mean…
Ali: Yeah, tell ’em.
Nikki: Let’s hear it.
Anton: Well, so, we were hanging out with my friend Joe and his girlfriend. I guess based off of what Joe has said or whatever, she made it seem like I’m really big into partying or going out, and I’m like, I was. That was one of the things that I talked about with Ali. I was, but over the last two years, it’s just not my scene anymore. What?
Heather: I don’t know.
Anton: Was it the look she gave me?
Heather: I’m feeling “bullshit” coming from Ali.
Ali: I was, I guess, feeling a little deceived when I heard that, ’‘cause, to me, it felt like, what reason does she have to blow things out of proportion? She’s had more of an opportunity to see Anton in the world than I have. I do want to trust that he’s being genuine and he’s being honest about what his life looked like before, but at the same time, like … I don’t have a way of knowing that. I’m going off of what I’m getting told.
Anton: With Melissa, I think, genuinely, it’s probably miscommunication because when we lived in Florida, when we were way younger, yeah, we used to go out, party, do all that stuff, you know? But once he moved here, he was single. I was just there going to clubs here and there just for him, ’cause he didn'’t have other friends.
Nikki: They’ve only been dating for four months?
Anton: They’ve only been dating for four months.
Nikki: But how is that her experience of you in four months if you haven’t been doing that the last four months?
Anton: That’s what I’m saying. So it’s what she go … what Joe basically told her. And so Joe, I don’t know how Joe told it to her. It’s just something that I think as time goes on, she’ll see, and she’ll be like, “Oh, yeah. This is how Anton is,”you know?
Nikki: She doesn’t really have time to see. She has to go off the information presented.
Anton: Right.
Nikki: Yeah. That’s a scary red flag. Maybe a little more scary than snoring, but …

Anton: My only intention with Ali, like, is just to just love her and just accept her for who she is, like, not change anything about her and, like, set us up for, like, a really successful future together.
Nikki: Well, I love that. That’s exactly what I want to hear for someone who’s engaged to my best friend.
Heather: I think it would be really unfortunate if he were saying all the right things, and then come the real world, and they’re living their lives together, and it’s a totally different story. But there’s really no way for Ali to know that.
Nikki: Yeah, his answer was almost too good. You’re saying all the right things, 100%. Where’s the, “Oh, yeah. I did go out five months ago, but it was just because of this.” He was like, "No, that was years and years ago. I’m not that guy. Annie: We’re meeting my parents today, and Nick gets to meet my mom and dad for the first time. Then I’m excited for my parents to meet Nick too.
Nick: Every person that walks by, I’m like, “Is that them?” Just waiting for them to show up.
Annie: Don’t be nervous.
Nick: Typically, moms like me.
Annie: Yeah? Oh. [chuckles] Hey.

Ellen: I’m not gonna cry.

Nick: I am nervous, because I wanna make a good first impression and make sure that, you know, I’m showing up for you the way she’s always shown up for me. And family is really important to both of us in our lives. I think that’s the reason we connected so much, and I believe when you marry, you marry the family too, and I fully believe in that, so … Annie is very motivated. She’s so good at just meeting people, and they immediately just are attracted to her. Everyone’s immediately drawn to Annie.
Tim: Well, you seem that way too, bud.
Nick: Yeah, absolutely, she got me. She did a good job.
Ellen: Yes. Well, I’m glad that you see that because that was one of my things. You know, Annie’s, being with her, it’s almost like being with a celebrity ’cause, you know, she just has that aura, and that happens.
Nick: She definitely has that aura and just really good energy about her too. But I’m like really glad that we’re complementing each other that way.
Annie: Like, it’s so easy. Like, he’s nice, and he’s normal, and, like, there’s not any, like…
Nick: Normal was the one box that I had to check, and then everything from there has been easy. I think the connection that we have has really helped us carry through. She is the first person that I’ve let into my life like that, and also that I’ve let myself love in such a long time, and it’s been really beautiful so far.
Ellen: Well, I know for Annie, she really needs a partner.
Nick: She’s been amazing, and you know, the way she says like, “I’m all in.” Like “I’m ready to jump,” you know, and, like, “Let’s go,” and that’s huge. Like, I think that that’s so amazing, and meanwhile, I’m, like, my Midwest sensibilities. I’m like, “Well, let’s take our time, and let’s see like where we’re getting to in the whole process,” but she keeps me grounded, and she keeps me reassured, and I appreciate that about her. KB: Initially, I have to say, though, it was the energy, and he told me something about his childhood, and it ended up with, I haven’t told nobody else, and I’m like, “Oh, OK.” I’m like, “OK”"
Luke: OK, so you’re willing to be open.
KB: Yeah, and I liked the vulnerable side of it. He was just so, like, open and willing and just knowing what he wanted, and that’s what really grabbed me. And that energy. It was the energy when we walked in a room and that nobody else could match. Like, I’m just like, if it wasn’t him, it wasn’t gonna be nobody else for me.
Drew: You felt the energy, for sure, almost before you could say anything.
Marcus: I feel like you guys will have a really good connection together. You know, based off of some of the stuff you did say, I think there’s some aspects of life that I think you can complement off of each other. I do think you’re a really good fit for him.

Britt: What was the first thing you were attracted to in the pods about Megan?
Jordan: She’s just, like, very mature and ambitious. She just made me dig deep and do … like, reflect.
Laura: Oh, into your own … into yourself.
Jordan: Yeah, yeah.
Olivia: Answer the tough stuff.
Jordan: Oh, yeah, definitely. That’s what I realized was important to me when we were going through that whole process, is just we could be, like, vulnerable with each other and have deep conversations and cry together. And as a guy, I never knew that was important to me until then.
Britt: What makes you think Megan’s the right person for you?
Jordan: I just feel like she’s so easy to commit to, you know? And I’ve never felt that before. She literally checks every box of, like, what I want, you know, And then she looks like this. I’m like, I fucking won the lottery pretty much. You know, she’s out of my league. I’m so … I’m amazed that I didn’t fumble that bag.
Olivia: What was your thought when you were rolling up in your Kia, and then here’s Megan in her Range Rover? [laughs]
Megan: Just, like, giggle.
Jordan: Yeah, I mean, I just, uh … I know she had to earn that, and I think it’s super cool that she, you know, works so hard that she can drive a cool car, and it’s, like, inspiring, ’cause I would love to do the same, but…

Olivia: Megan, in her past relationships, some of these guys were like, “No, I’m fine with you, like, being financially stable and, you know, lucrative,” and they say that, but then all of a sudden, it’s like, you kind of find out, no, maybe they’re not as secure. Yeah, I think that’s a big thing for us with Megan is making sure that whoever she ends up with understands that Megan can take care of herself, right?
Jordan: Yeah, yeah.
Olivia: But at the same time, we don’t want you, or who, you know, to feel demasculinated. Or whatever that word may be.
Jordan: Zero. I drive a shitty car by choice, right? That’s my choice.

KB: I think it’s actually something very valuable that that jewelry is with us for the rest of our life.
