Dan Brown’s globe-trotting hero and professor Robert Langdon is heading to Netflix.

The author is teaming up with prolific showrunner Carlton Cuse on a new series adaptation set in the world of his new mystery thriller book The Secret of Secrets

In the upcoming novel, Langdon, an esteemed symbologist, races against ancient forces and time to rescue a missing scientist, whose groundbreaking manuscript contains discoveries that have the power to forever change humanity’s understanding of the mind. The yet-to-be-titled TV series will blend futuristic science with mystical lore, delivering on the heart-pounding suspense and international intrigue that have made the Langdon stories a global phenomenon.

Brown, who’s on board as a writer and executive producer, co-created the series with Cuse (Lost, Jack Ryan, Locke & Key, Bates Motel), who will serve as showrunner, writer, and executive producer. Emma Forman will also executive produce for Genre Arts.

Bookish adventurer Langdon first appeared in 2000’s Angels & Demons, but rose to a new level of fame in its 2003 sequel The Da Vinci Code — adapted for film starring Tom Hanks. Brown has since written four subsequent sequels starring Langdon: The Lost Symbol, Inferno, Origin, and The Secret of Secrets, which will hit bookstores on Sept. 9, 2025. The series has collectively sold 250 million copies and been printed in 56 languages.

The new Langdon show joins Netflix’s deep roster of book-to-screen adaptations, including You, A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder, Harlan Coben’s Missing You, Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming Frankenstein, and more.

There’s no word yet on who will step into Langdon’s shoes for The Secret of Secrets, but stay tuned for clues as the series gears up for production.
