Neil Patrick Harris might have played the ultimate bachelor in the Big Apple as Barney Stinson in How I Met Your Mother. But now, in a role reversal, he’s learning what it’s like to get back out there in the new comedy Uncoupled. The eight-episode series of half-hour episodes drops on July 29.
Harris stars as Michael, a married Manhattanite who thought his life was perfect until his husband of 17 years blindsides him by walking out the door. Overnight, Michael has to confront two nightmares — losing the one he thought was his soulmate and suddenly finding himself a single gay man in his mid-40s in New York City.

Michael (Neil Patrick Harris) is suited up and ready to (at least try to) get back out there.

Uncoupled is created and executive produced by Darren Star, the mastermind behind Sex and the City and Emily in Paris, and Jeffrey Richman, who is known for his work on Modern Family and Frasier. In addition to starring in the show, Harris also executive produces, alongside alums of Star’s series Younger, Tony Hernandez and Lilly Burns. Hernandez previously worked on Full Frontal with Samantha Bee, while Burns also hails from Emily in Paris.
