HUNTR/X don’t miss. KPop Demon Hunters, directed by Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans, continues its global domination that started with the film’s launch on Netflix in June 2025, and hasn’t stopped going up, up, up since. The animated musical epic has nabbed three nominations for the 83rd annual Golden Globes: Best Animated Motion Picture, Best Cinematic and Box Office Acheivement, and Best Original Song from a Motion Picture for “Golden,” with music by Joong Gyu Kwak, Yu Han Lee, Hee Dong Nam (IDO), Jeong Hoon Seo (24), Park Hong Jun (TEDDY); and lyrics by EJAE and Mark Sonnenblick.
Writers and directors Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans and producer Michelle Wong told Netflix, “We are beyond thrilled and incredibly humbled by the recognition of KPop Demon Hunters by the Golden Globes! On behalf of the entire cast and our tireless crew, this moment feels surreal, and we couldn't be more grateful to the members of the Golden Globes, Netflix, Sony Pictures Animation, Sony Pictures Imageworks, and everyone who supported our vision over the past seven years.
“The global cultural impact of this film is something we are still getting used to, and we are so thankful to the fans who fell in love with Rumi, Mira, Zoey, the Saja Boys, and of course Derpy Tiger and Sussie, who helped deliver our film’s recognition in both the Best Motion Picture and Animated and Cinematic and Box Office Achievement categories. Thank you, Hunters!”

And from the “Golden” songwriting team: “Thank you so much to the Golden Globes for this incredible honor. We are so thankful to be part of this team, led by our visionary directors Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans, producer Michelle Wong, and executive music producer Ian Eisendrath. This collaboration, which spanned from Seoul to New York, would not have been possible without them, or without the powerful voices of REI AMI and AUDREY NUNA. Thank you to the team at Netflix, Sony Pictures Animation & Sony Music, Republic Records, and THEBLACKLABEL. To see how ‘Golden’ has resonated with so many people of all ages around the world has been such a gift, and we are forever thankful to all the fans that have supported KPop Demon Hunters — voices strong — together we’re GOLDEN!”
KPop Demon Hunters, which is Netflix’s most popular film of all time, has already had a golden start to this awards season, including a New York Film Critics Circle win for Best Animated Feature on Dec. 2.
