Everything to Know About the Bags on ‘Emily in Paris’

    Yes, including that Prada bag.

“Keep your baggage to yourself” may have been an early Savoir pitch for Rimowa, but we’re glad the bags in Emily in Paris are on full display. (Along with the characters’ juicy personal baggage, of course.)

The following 12 purses can clearly carry a scene all by themselves. Find out which Emily in Paris–inspired occasion is perfect for each of these purses — or should we say, très parfait?

Gold Gabo Guzzo bag

1. The perfect bag for… being fabulous no matter the situation

No one knows how to make the best of less-than-ideal circumstances like Mindy Chen (Ashley Park). In Season 2, Episode 4, she carries this gold Gabo Guzzo bag to her first gig with her new band, only to find out their venue isn’t exactly the Paris Opera.

But that doesn’t stop Mindy from singing her heart out, even when a motley crew of street performers — including one very tenacious mime — tries to steal the spotlight.

Bottom line: With a bag like this, nothing can dull your shine — even if you’re at the DMV.

Patricia Field ArtFashion bag

2. The perfect bag for… trying something new

In Season 1, Episode 1, Emily Cooper (Lily Collins) wears a custom Patricia Field ArtFashion bag with a bright yellow blouse and skirt while scoping out café pastries — and brushing up on her French language skills. The purse holds a special place in our hearts because it’s one of the first glimpses we get of Emily in, well, Paris.

Bottom line: This bag is quintessential Emily. Wear it to a new city (or an office where everyone hates you) and you too will be a beacon of light, hope and optimism, à la the Eiffel Tower at night.

Louboutin bag

3. The perfect bag for… taking a much-needed vacation

Emily learns a lot while toting this Louboutin bag in Season 2, Episode 2: Her enigmatic boss, Sylvie (Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu), is actually quite familiar with St. Tropez; one should never underestimate the depths of a fashion designer’s grudge; and the French Riviera is a place for play, not work — especially on weekends.

Bottom line: Don’t even think about trying to cram your laptop inside this bag.

ASOS bag

4. The perfect bag for… justifying your behavior

Emily wears this fringed, fluttery ASOS bag to Gabriel’s (Lucas Bravo’s) restaurant in Season 1, Episode 2, but has yet to pin down the ins and outs of monogamy as it applies to Parisian relationships.

Bottom line: If this purse, with its long, luscious strands, doesn’t play by the rules, rocking it gives you carte blanche to do whatever you want, non? Mais oui! You can think about the consequences, like, later.

Casablanca bag

5. The perfect bag for… settling a score

The Casablanca bag that fashion designer Grégory Elliot Duprée (Jeremy O. Harris) carries in Season 2, Episode 2 is just like him: fabulous with a strong point of view. Duprée definitely probably shouldn’t have posed on top of luggage with his rival Pierre Cadault’s (Jean-Christophe Bouvet’s) face emblazoned on it and then helped the snapshot go viral, but… oops? All’s fair in love and fashion.

Bottom line: Everyone will know where you stand when you’re swinging a bag like this. And you’re probably standing on a yacht in St. Tropez, tap-dancing on the graves of your enemies.

Edie Parker clutch

6. The perfect bag for… convincing your crush you’re just a girl, standing in front of a boy, asking him to love her

Mindy always brings the lewks. She’s also unapologetically herself — our favorite type of person — especially when she’s bouncing back from unfortunate events. Her Edie Parker clutch hammers home the visual impact of her pink houndstooth ensemble as she tosses euros into her street-busker beau’s hat, hoping to win him back.

Bottom line: This purse tells everyone your vibe is this and only this: “Take me for what I aaaaaam/ Who I was meant to be/ And if you give a damn/ Take me, baby/ Or leave me.”

Thom Browne dachshund bag

7. The perfect bag for… planning a heist

Whether you’re looking to reclaim your favorite sweatshirt from your partner’s closet or finally get your hands on the map you’re sure is on the back of the U.S. Constitution, this adorable Thom Browne dachshund bag — owned by French student Petra (Daria Panchenko) in Season 2, Episode 4 — will help throw people off the scent.

Bottom line: If you wear this bag mid-arrest while tossing off classic Emily Cooper lines (“I love to do shopping!”), you might get a warning instead of a prison sentence.

Mark Cross bag

8. The perfect bag for… traveling

Technically a miniature version of a steamer trunk, Emily’s Mark Cross bag is meant for travel. So whether she’s walking to French class with her hunky new beau, beer-filled coffee cups (“travelers”) in hand, or carrying the purse in the wee hours back to her own apartment after a steamy (get it?) one-night stand, she’s covered.

Bottom line: This bag is your ticket to ride, wherever your travels take you — even if it’s a nondescript high-rise condo in Paris’ financial district.

Roger Vivier purse

9: The perfect bag for… carting a Muppet around without actually carting a real Muppet around (that would be weird)

We know the Yip Yips live rent-free in your mind, too. But thanks to Mindy’s Season 2, Episode 7 tutelage via this Roger Vivier purse, you can carry their essence next to your hip every day.

Bottom line: In this episode, Mindy says, “That’s what ghosts do. They totally disappear on you.” The Yip Yip martians do too! But not anymore they don’t — not with this purse!

Yellow Prada bag

10. The perfect bag for… enjoying the little things in life

This classic yellow Prada bag rests on an outdoor bench next to Emily in Season 2, Episode 9 as she listens to her friend and roommate Mindy sing, the melody wafting down from their building as Emily closes her eyes and soaks it all in.

Bottom line: “Your friends are really good people,” Alfie (Lucien Laviscount) says in this episode. While wearing a bag like this, try not to think too hard about how you’ve screwed all of them over at some point or another during your Parisian tour of destruction.

Staud bag

11. The perfect bag for… explaining to all of these rubes what Bauhaus is

Gawd, how many times do we have to describe the Bauhaus aesthetic so everyone can follow along? It’s so exhausting! We can’t… we just… we can’t anymore. We need some air. At least Mindy has enough taste to sport this Staud bag in Season 1, Episode 5.

Bottom line: Buy an Art Criticism 101 textbook already, people! Then put it in this bag when you go to cocktail parties and talk smack about how everyone you know is less worldly than you.

Thom Browne bag

12. The perfect bag for… playing by the rules (when no one else is)

The best things in life are free. Unfortunately, this candy-pink Thom Browne bag isn’t. What unfolds in Season 2, Episode 4 is an accidental heist for the ages, culminating in not one but two Thom Browne bags wrasslin’ on the ground outside le magasin

Bottom line: A bag like this is so gorgeous you’ll wanna steal it. But you would never! Right? Right?!
