Grab your passport: Emily Cooper’s Italian adventures in Season 5 of Emily in Paris are now streaming on Netflix. “This season is a tale of two cities: Rome and Paris,” creator Darren Star says. “Straddling both, Emily takes love and life to the next level.” Reunite with the marketing maven in the brand-new teaser for Emily in Paris Season 5 above.

Rome’s not the only new city Emily is exploring: See her cruising through Venice in first-look photos below. And because art imitates life, follow the Season 5 actors’ real-life Venice Simplon-Orient-Express train adventure that took them from Venice to Paris for the Season 5 premiere. “From Parisian rooftops to Roman ruins, we can’t wait to share where Emily’s next chapter takes us,” Star says. Wait, so Emily’s in Rome now?

Season 4 of the series saw the expat spark a romance with a handsome Italian fashion scion and then move into an Italian apartment to open a Rome office for Agence Grateau. But the locale twist doesn’t mean the name of the show is changing. “Emily’s going to have a presence in Rome,” says Star. “It doesn’t mean she’s not going to be in Paris.”

Sending Emily to Italy to open up a new office was born out of the series creator’s desire to “stay ahead of the audience and take them to unexpected places,” and prove “the show has the ability to have a bigger footprint.”

Emily in Paris Season 4 ranked No. 1 on the Netflix Global Top 10 when it premiered in August. It had 19.9 million views in its first four days, reaching the Top 10 in 93 countries, and has remained on the list for four consecutive weeks since.

In Season 5, Collins was particularly excited to explore what happens between her character and Marcello (Franceschini). “Marcello is a whole other adventure that we want for Emily, because we ultimately want Emily to be able to have a better work-life balance,” the actor says. “We want to have Emily be able to smile without condition. We want to see her beyond her vacay mode. And he comes at that perfect time.”

Star, too, is eager to explore their relationship, adding, “I feel like they have a real spark and a real connection and a real romantic connection. A lot of that’s going to continue to play out next season.”

Of course, Emily’s neighbor and on-again, off-again boyfriend Gabriel (Bravo) has an epiphany in the final moments of Season 4, realizing that he wants to be with Emily after all. Communication troubles might have gotten in the way of a real relationship before, with Gabriel ending things between them, and now he’s ready to fight to be with her. But is he too late? “Unfortunately,” says Collins, “Gabriel has to deal with the repercussions of his choice.” Read more about the men who have fallen in love with Emily on Tudum.
