A feud set in a wealthy country club, a lethal cat-and-mouse feud between an author and a megalomaniacal real estate developer, and a movie starring a talking octopus named Marcellus were just a few of the projects recognized by the 2026 Primetime Emmy Awards.
In total, Netflix nabbed 111 nominations across 34 series, specials, and movies, from returning hits like BEEF, The Diplomat, Nobody Wants This, and Love on the Spectrum to new noteworthy favorites like The Beast in Me and Remarkably Bright Creatures. Here's everything you need to catch up on before the big ceremony on September 14.
The Beast in Me

An author with a legendary case of grief-induced writer’s block finds the story of a lifetime in this limited series. Claire Danes plays Aggie Wiggs, a writer whose new neighbor, Nile Jarvis (Matthew Rhys), is a charming enigma — and a notorious real estate mogul accused of murdering his wife. Aggie approaches Nile in the hopes that she can write about him and his case. He agrees. But is befriending a powerful and possibly sociopathic tycoon the best move? Is she in danger? Or can Aggie navigate their increasingly twisted dynamic to come out on top?

Black Rabbit

Vince (Jason Bateman), a debt-ridden gambler, and Jake (Jude Law), an up-and-coming restaurateur, are siblings navigating New York City’s high-pressure nightlife scene. Just as one brother is about to launch his new hotspot, the other opens the door to old traumas and new dangers that threaten to bring down everything they’ve built. Black Rabbit is a propulsive thrill ride and character examination about the way an unbreakable bond between two brothers can shatter their world and everything in its orbit.
Death by Lightning

This limited series stars Michael Shannon as James Garfield, the underdog congressman who became the 20th US president in 1881. Based on Candice Millard’s 2011 nonfiction book Destiny of the Republic: A Tale of Madness, Medicine and the Murder of a President, the four episodes chronicle Garfield’s improbable rise and abrupt fall at the hands of Charles Guiteau (Matthew Macfadyen), Garfield’s fanatical admirer and eventual assassin. Betty Gilpin, Nick Offerman, Bradley Whitford, and Shea Whigham also portray real-life figures.
The Diplomat

With a fourth season on the horizon, this political thriller starring Keri Russell as US diplomat Kate Wyler keeps raising the stakes. The series starts with Kate having been made the new US ambassador to the UK after an international crisis. She’s also having marital problems with her self-aggrandizing diplomat husband, Hal (Rufus Sewell). Season 3 uncovers even more lies and deceit lurking just beneath the surface, making it impossible for Kate to know who she can trust as she juggles the conflicting needs of colleagues, shadowy operators, and even the President of the United States.
The Four Seasons
1 nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for Colman Domingo
Alan Alda’s beloved 1981 movie followed three couples as they travel together to various places throughout the course of a year. The series adaptation — created by Tina Fey, Lang Fisher, and Tracey Wigfield — updates and expands on that premise, this time with Fey, Steve Carell, Marco Calvani, Colman Domingo, Will Forte, and Kerri Kenney-Silver depicting the six longtime friends, many of whom have known each other since their college days. In Season 2, the friends reunite for four new seasonal get-togethers as they process a personal loss and embrace the regrets and reinventions of middle age.
Love on the Spectrum
5 nominations including Outstanding Unstructured Reality Program
For four seasons, Love on the Spectrum has chronicled the experiences of young adults on the autism spectrum as they navigate dating and relationships — some for the first time — with pure joy, nerves, and the occasional discomfort. “The most important thing we can do with this series is to introduce audiences to a diverse range of autistic people, telling their stories in their own voices,” co-creator and director Cian O’Clery told Tudum.
Monster: The Ed Gein Story

The latest in Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan’s Monster anthology series takes on the serial killer credited for inspiring some of horror’s most vicious villains. Charlie Hunnam plays Ed Gein, a quiet man living in rural Plainfield, Wisconsin, in the 1950s. His obsession with his overly religious mother, his exposure to gruesome pulp magazines, and the seclusion of his family farm’s are all factors in the tragic events to come, including murder, grave robbing, and sewing projects involving human skin. By the end of this series, you’ll understand why Gein was dubbed the “Butcher of Plainfield.”
Nobody Wants This

This hit rom-com centers on Noah (Adam Brody) and Joanne (Kristen Bell), who meet at a party and have an instant spark. Despite the initial obstacles that make them an unlikely couple — Noah is a Jewish rabbi and Joanne is a sex and dating podcaster — they strike up a relationship. The second season (with a third on the way) sees the duo navigate important relationship milestones, including integrating their chaotic families and planning their shared future. But do they really have what it takes to become a “we”?
People We Meet on Vacation

Emily Bader and Tom Blyth star in the globetrotting romance as the free-spirited Poppy and the routine-loving Alex. Even though they live in different cities, they’ve maintained their unlikely friendship for a decade by spending every summer vacation together. But their bond is put to the test when they start to question if they could actually be the perfect romantic match. The adaptation of Emily Henry’s best-selling novel has an ensemble cast featuring Sarah Catherine Hook, Jameela Jamil, Lucien Laviscount, and Lukas Gage.
Remarkably Bright Creatures

In the whimsical and quietly profound adaptation of Shelby Van Pelt’s novel, Sally Field plays Tova, a grieving widow who works at a local aquarium. She forms unlikely bonds with a prickly giant Pacific octopus named Marcellus (voiced by Alfred Molina) and a wayward young musician named Cameron (Lewis Pullman), who recently rolled into town in a beat-up van. Together, they uncover a mystery that leads them to a life-changing discovery and restores their sense of wonder.
