Game of Thrones alum Christie — also spotted in Sandman as a high-fashion Lucifer this year — is certainly conjuring old Hollywood in Wednesday as Nevermore Academy principal Larissa Weems, a Hitchcockian blonde with the kind of crimson lipstick that would have Tippi Hedren weeping with jealousy. But Christie wasn’t the only member of the cast who brought spooky sparkle to the Tim Burton–directed fantasy series every day on set and behind the scenes. Catherine Zeta-Jones gives new life to Morticia Addams’ classic goth siren persona and Jenna Ortega ushers Wednesday Addams into moody teenagedom as the drama’s freckled hero.
As Ortega tells Tudum, “When you’re approached with a character like this and a director like this and a story like this, it’s very compelling. You don’t know when you’re going to get the opportunity to do something like that again. I knew that I just had to take it.”
