The Umbrella Academy is serious business. There are timeline collapses to stop and sibling rivalries to untangle. But the cast behind the sci-fi drama still manages to have a little fun behind the scenes.
Umbrella Academy’s superstars revealed their Season 3 blooper reel at Tudum 2022, Netflix's annual global fan event. The giggle-packed video also spills some very unexpected secrets from production.
Although the Umbrella Academy cast is filled with the utmost “professionals,” as star Aidan Gallagher (Five Hargreeves) says, some actors are more prone to laughs during takes than others. In fact, Gallagher himself might be the greatest culprit.

“Yeah, I always break,” Gallagher tells co-star Emmy Raver-Lampman after watching himself crack up over a dire Umbrella Academy scene. “It’s my kryptonite.”
Gallagher isn’t the only one. Justin H. Minn, who plays Ben Hargreeves, has a particularly difficult time keeping a straight face during one of his character’s most dramatic moments in Season 3 (watch the video to find out which one). In fact, Minn totally forgets his line. “To have to say, like, ‘Power up!’ or ‘Kill them!’ — it’s hard to say seriously,” he admits to on-screen brother David Castañeda.
While the Umbrella Academy siblings have a hard time agreeing on anything, they are unified on one subject: their supersuits. Raver-Lampman is instantly — and knowingly — mortified watching a clip of Genesis Rodriguez trying to move around while wearing her skintight costume. As Minn sayss, “Those suits? You couldn’t move in them. You couldn’t breathe in them.” And it’s also “impossible to look cool doing anything in them,” adds Raver-Lampman. But it’s Tom Hopper, who portrays Luther Hargreeves, who’s willing to spill the real gossip: “Every time we moved, it kind of sounded like a fart.”
Naturally, all the cast can do is laugh through the accidental flatulence sounds, line flubs and dancing that comes with filming The Umbrella Academy. The family that goofs off together stays together — if the rules of time travel allow, of course.
With five distinct celebrations, Tudum: A Netflix Global Fan Event includes first-look photos, never-before-seen footage, new trailers, behind-the-scenes access, celebrity appearances, interviews and more from over 100 of your favorite series, films and specials.
