Happy Gilmore 2 Continues to Swing Big at  No. 1 in This Week’s Top 10

Plus: KPop Demon Hunters enters the Netflix Top 10 Most Popular and UNTAMED continues to thrill.

A new generation of fans and longtime devotees of Adam Sandler’s hilariously irreverent Happy Gilmore returned to their happy place. Like Will Zalatoris with his hands around his caddy’s neck, Happy Gilmore 2 sustained its chokehold on viewers for a second week. The film remained in the No. 1 spot on the English Film List and scored big with another 40.8 million views. The original Happy Gilmore continued to hit that nostalgic sweet spot as well, coming in at No. 4 on the list with 11.3 million views.

Maintaining their popcorn-eyes level of influence all over the world were the ladies of HUNTR/X. The Honmoon is sealed and stronger than ever as fans everywhere made their love for KPop Demon Hunters known, keeping the film in its No. 2 rank on the English Film List with another 26.3 million views. Cementing itself as a bona fide phenomenon, the film also made its official debut in the Top 10 Most Popular English Film List, slaying its way to No. 4 with an impressive158.8 million views.

Romantics everywhere gave first-class honours — or an  A+ by American standards — to the new Sofia Carson and Corey Mylchreest–led romance My Oxford Year. Viewers were swept up in the story of Anna (Carson), an ambitious American student who’s studying abroad at the University of Oxford and thinks she has her life in order until she meets and falls in love with a charming local (Mychreest). With 24.6 million views in its premiere weekend, the love story charmed its way to the No. 3 spot on the English Film List.

Also invading the list was the new documentary Trainwreck: Storm Area 51, nabbing the No. 6 position with 7 million views. This marks the latest entry in the Trainwreck documentary anthology cataloguing some of the most gripping, bizarre (and even horrifying) true stories: This one covers a social media prank gone viral that leads thousands of enthusiasts to the highly classified Area 51 Air Force base.

Meanwhile, the wild called, and murder mystery lovers continued to listen. The Yosemite National Park–set thriller UNTAMED maintained the No. 1 spot on the English TV List for a third week with another 12.2 million views added to its accumulated 59.6 million total. Eric Bana’s special agent Kyle Turner kept viewers on edge as he hunted a killer in the beautiful but wild woods. (Good news: It’s already been renewed for a second season.)

But it wasn’t just Agent Turner on the hunt; the ruthless society ladies of East Texas have multiple targets in mind in the seductive thriller The Hunting Wives. Making its way further into the inner circle of the English TV List at No. 2, the series starring Brittany Snow and Malin Akerman ensnared another 5.8 million views.

On the opposite side of the spectrum, the new comedy series Leanne made its debut with 2.7 million views, putting it at No. 7 on the list. The sitcom from heavy-hitter executive producer Chuck Lorre is also co-created by and stars comedian Leanne Morgan. Morgan already holds the distinction of having the most-viewed stand-up comedy special from a woman on Netflix with Leanne Morgan: I’m Every Woman

Another woeful mystery looms on the horizon, and dark devotees prepared for the premiere of Wednesday Season 2 by catching up on the first season of Wednesday, putting it at No. 6 in the English TV List with 2.7 million views.

Proving that crime never sleeps, two true crime documentary series took the No. 3 and No. 4 spots on the English TV list. Viewers continued to collect evidence as they streamed Amy Bradley Is Missing, which held firm with 4.2 million new views; meanwhile, newcomer Conversations with a Killer: The Son of Sam Tapes raked in 3.4 million in its premiere week as it presented newly unearthed audio interviews with David Berkowitz.

Thrillers claimed the top spots on the Non-English Film and TV Lists this week. The psychological Indonesian thriller A Normal Woman topped the Non-English Film List with 4 million views, and the steamy and suspenseful drama Unspeakable Sins took the No. 1 spot on the Non-English TV List with 5.1 million views.

Korean shows performed a hat trick on the Non-English TV List, with the crime series Trigger clocking in at No. 2 with 5 million views, Squid Game Season 3 claiming No. 3 with 2.9 million views, and the heartfelt courtroom drama Beyond the Bar taking the No. 10 spot with 1.8 million views.
