Destiny is a beast — and Geralt of Rivia, played by Liam Hemsworth, is back to slay it.

“Something is shifting on this Continent,” warns Yennefer (Anya Chalotra) in The Witcher Season 4 trailer. And after the events of Season 3, it’s clear nothing will ever be the same. Our central trio — Geralt of Rivia (Liam Hemsworth), Yennefer of Vengerberg, and Princess Cirilla of Cintra (Freya Allan) — are scattered and bruised, setting the stage for a penultimate chapter full of new alliances, impossible choices, and seriously terrifying monsters. As showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich teases, “We send them each on their own journey — a very different journey than anything they’ve done before, which is where we start in Season 4.”

Hemsworth wields the sword of Geralt of Rivia, and the trailer wastes no time showing the new White Wolf in action. “I was such a big fan of this character, so it was a bit of those pinch-yourself moments of walking around in this costume,” Hemsworth tells Tudum. His Geralt begins the season more determined than ever, but also stripped down to the core of what matters. “We pick up Geralt having just left Brokilon, he’s with Milva [Meng’er Zhang] and Jaskier [Joey Batey], and his main driving force is to get to Ciri and make sure that she’s safe,” says Hemsworth.

Yennefer is thrust into a new kind of leadership just as the magical world reels from the chaos at Aretuza. “At the beginning of Season 4, she’s ready to do anything to protect her daughter, Ciri, and make this world better for her — to dig deeper than she’s ever had to dig before,” says Chalotra. In the trailer, as her nemesis Vilgefortz (Mahesh Jadu) raises his army, Yen urges: “We can live if we build an army of our own.”

Meanwhile, Ciri goes undercover as “Falka” and travels with the infamous group of vagabonds known as the Rats, leaning into her fiercer, more violent side after the devastation of last season. “She sees that she can’t just lead with pure goodness,” says Allan, “but she’s navigating the balance — at times the pain and the hunger for some kind of revenge goes too far down the dark path.”

Season 4 also introduces a legendary character, played by a legendary actor: Laurence Fishburne as Regis, the barber-surgeon with secrets of his own. “I was just really excited to be a part of this world,” Fishburne tells Tudum. “I’m a big fan of fantasy and science fiction, and when they asked me to join them, I was like, ‘Oh, this is interesting.’ This is something I’ve always wished to be able to do, and now I’m getting an opportunity to do it.” Regis’ arrival signals a pivotal shift in Geralt as he embarks on a personal transformation.

At its bloody heart, this season is about separation and the fight to reunite. “One of the things we always say is that it wouldn’t be The Witcher if everything ended happily,” Schmidt Hissrich reminds us. And you can feel the force of destiny in the trailer: Geralt fighting with a renewed intensity, Yennefer stepping into uncharted power, and Ciri running toward peril.

The Continent is more fractured than ever, and every choice could ignite a war. But as the trailer portends, Season 4 isn’t just about surviving battles — it’s about remaking the world.
