Does an ultimatum actually work?

The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On, hosted by Netflix’s resident love gurus Nick and Vanessa Lachey, dares to ask this question. From the team behind Love Is Blind, the show was first teased during the Season 2 reunion. 

The Ultimatum revolves around six couples who are approaching marriage, but one person feels more ready to pop the question than the other; in response, someone’s issued an ultimatum. Now contestants have the opportunity to select a new potential partner from one of the other couples. In just over eight weeks, they’ll have to decide if they should get married to their original partner or break up forever.

“If you’re not sure you want to marry your current partner,” Nick says to the contestants, “the risk is that they’ll find someone else who is.” That possibility is certainly explored in the trailer: Some contestants sleep in the same bed with their trial spouses and introduce them to their families, pushing them closer toward a breakup with their original partners.

The first eight episodes of The Ultimatum premiere April 6, followed by the finale and reunion on April 13. In the meantime, hold on tight to your partner and catch the trailer here.
