When Shadow and Bone returns for Season 2, prepare to meet some fresh faces ready to face the Fold.
At Netflix’s annual Tudum fan event, the newest cast members of the fantasy series Patrick Gibson (Nikolai Lantsov), Jake Wolfe (Wylan Hendricks), Anna Leong Brophy (Tamar Kir-Bataar) and Lewis Tan (Tolya Yul-Bataar) shared a first look at their characters in full costume, featuring Wylan presenting his chemistry set and Tamar wielding her signature axes.

Clearly, Tamar’s weapons of choice are an accoutrement of Leigh Bardugo’s hit book series (upon which the show is based), and the cast have been waiting to see them. Wolfe leaned over to Brophy and whispered, “Anna, those axes!” after the footage finished rolling.
But that’s not all: The newcomers were joined by series vets Jessie Mei Li (Alina Starkov) and Ben Barnes (the Darkling/General Kirigan) on set to ponder sharing a sneak peek at Season 2. As Li sat on her “wife” Brophy’s lap, she teased, “I wish we could show you guys some more...” just for Barnes to interject in the Black General’s authoritative manner, “Why can’t we?”
So here it is, your very first look at the second season of Shadow and Bone:
The glimpse at Season 2 kicks off with Nikolai proposing that Alina is a symbol, a label that she quickly corrects: “I’m the Sun Summoner.”
If you missed the Crows, you can now join the Crow Club, as we see the Bastard of the Barrel himself, Kaz (Freddy Carter), stalking the streets, Inej (Amita Suman) with her glorious knives and Jesper (Kit Young) bestowing a sweet kiss on his pistol. We also see the Crows in nearly full form, as the threesome is joined in a line with Nina (Danielle Galligan) and Wylan by their side. The only one missing is Matthias (Calahan Skogman), who, shirtless, is escorted away by guards…
The Darkling, who ended Season 1 with a massive cliffhanger as he emerged from the Fold, is back to ask the probing question: “Are you willing to sacrifice that which is most precious to you?”
For Alina, that might come in the form of the man we see her kissing in the teaser video. Devoted fans might just presume he’s her best pal, Mal (Archie Renaux).
