Netflix’s live-action adaptation of beloved manga turned anime One Piece is in production in South Africa, and in this Geeked Week sneak peek, you can get an early glimpse at what your favorite set pieces will look like when they come to the small screen.
In the manga, the young Monkey D. Luffy sets sail on his quest for the world’s greatest treasure, the mysterious One Piece, with the help of a ragtag crew called the Straw Hat Pirates. It’s already come to life in a long-running anime series, and Iñaki Godoy will play the rubber-skinned teenage hero as he attempts to become King of the Pirates in Netflix’s new live-action adventure.

In our special Geeked Week announcement, showrunners Steve Maeda and Matt Owens and star Godoy introduce our first look at some of the show’s most important sets. In the video below, you can see the concept art and ultimate execution of locations, including the Miss Love Duck, Going Merry and absolutely massive Baratie ships.

But that’s not the only news we have for you this week. We’re also here to announce some new cast members who have joined our production and are hard at work in South Africa. Langley Kirkwood will play Captain Morgan, Celeste Loots will play Kaya, Alexander Maniatis will play Klahadore, Craig Fairbrass is Chef Zeff, Steven Ward is Mihawk and Chioma Umeala is Nojiko. They join previously announced castmates Godoy, Mackenyu, Emily Rudd, Jacob Romero Gibson and Taz Skylar, along with Morgan Davies, Ilia Isorelýs Paulino, Aidan Scott, Jeff Ward, McKinley Belcher III and Vincent Regan. See you soon, pirate kings.
