Ritu Arya has spent a fair amount of time on screen chasing Ryan Reynolds, Dwayne Johnson and Gal Gadot. In the spy comedy Red Notice, Arya plays Interpol agent Inspector Urvashi Das, who is on the hunt for one possibly corrupt FBI profiler (Johnson) and two international thieves (Gadot and Reynolds). And that’s not her only action-packed on-screen adventure: Arya can also be seen fighting with the Hargreeves in the upcoming (and highly anticipated) Umbrella Academy Season 3. But off screen, the actor isn’t exactly doing backflips, chasing thieves or flexing superpowers. In fact, she has a completely different pursuit: Making music.
Arya is a drummer and one third of the band Kin, along with bandmates Adam Collier and Grace Strickland de Souza. Described on their Twitter bio as alternative indie pop, the band has released four songs in the last year. The latest, an ’80s-inspired track called “The Runaways,” dropped Nov. 4, right before Red Notice became the No. 1 movie on Netflix.
Arya’s drumming has yet to be utilized on screen, and perhaps this is an opportunity for Red Notice writer-director Rawson Marshall Thurber to make a mental note — in case he’s interested in writing a sequel. “I loved playing her. I loved creating her, and it’s really empowering to play an Interpol agent,” Arya told ComicBook.com when asked if she’d come back. “I would definitely love to do it again.”
The campaign for Inspector Des to play the drums in Red Notice 2 starts now.
