So, Taylor Sheridan heads, you’ve visited Dutton Ranch, you’ve met Landman, maybe you’ve even traveled back into time to 1883 and 1923. But have you gotten acquainted with the company town of Kingstown, Michigan, and its new mayor … er, “mayor”? Well, it’s about time you did, as all four seasons are now streaming on Netflix.
Mayor of Kingstown — from Sheridan and co-creator Hugh Dillon, who you might know as Yellowstone’s Sheriff Donnie Haskell — follows Avengers star Jeremy Renner as Mike McLusky, a power broker overseeing a gritty town whose citizens depend on the prison industrial complex for everything. Why? Kingstown has seven prisons. And for decades, the McLuskys have acted as unofficial brokers to help keep the peace between the prison inmates, as well as the guards, gangs, and police. So when tragedy strikes, Mike reluctantly steps up. Along with Renner, the cast of the crime thriller features Dillon (Flashpoint) as Lieutenant Ian Ferguson alongside Dianne Wiest (I Care a Lot.), Tobi Bamtefa (Feel Good), Taylor Handley (The Pitt), Emma Laird (28 Years Later: The Bone Temple), Aidan Gillen (Peaky Blinders), and Kyle Chandler (The Rip).

The locally revered McLusky brothers run Kingstown. After their father died, the eldest, Mitch (Chandler), took over as “mayor,” the informal mediator between the city’s many warring powers that be. Part gangster, part fixer, the affable Mitch has made allies of everyone from gang leaders — like the local Crips boss, Bunny (Bamtefa) — to FBI agents. The youngest McLusky, Kyle (Handley), is a detective with the Kingstown Police Department. Their mother, Mariam (Wiest), teaches at a women’s prison, and tries her best to stay away from her sons’ less-than-savory profession. Then there’s Mike, the middle son, who despises the family occupation. He’d rather skip town and start a new life far away. But it’s tough luck for his distant dreams: The McLusky brothers are at the center of every criminal outfit in town — prison drug deals, gang disputes, money laundering, murder, you name it. Their one rule? Never double-cross your partners. So when Mitch’s involvement with the FBI results in a deal with a Russian mobster (Gillen) going belly up, the McLuskys pay the price — especially Mike, who’s now responsible for 20,000 inmates and 40,000 residents as the de facto mayor of Kingstown.
