Every good whodunit needs a mystery guest to crash the party. New character posters for Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery reveal a very familiar face joining the star-studded ensemble: the Mona Lisa.
Each poster shows a character holding one glass letter spelling out the film’s title. Leading the proceedings is Daniel Craig’s detective Benoit Blanc, who returns from Knives Out to investigate a new case, this time on the beaches of Greece. For Craig, reprising his role as Blanc was a pleasure. “I don’t want to underplay the degree of intense work that it is for Daniel,” director Rian Johnson tells Netflix. “But he’s also engaged with the work because he’s genuinely enjoying it, and you can feel that. He’s an amazing actor, but there is also something that’s just radiating off the screen.”
Joining Blanc is his new murderer’s row of suspects, a formidable group including Edward Norton, Janelle Monáe, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr., Jessica Henwick, Madelyn Cline, with Kate Hudson and Dave Bautista. They’ve gathered on the private island of Miles Bron (Norton) after receiving a mysterious puzzle box as an invitation.
A previous poster for Johnson’s Knives Out follow-up, Glass Onion, showed the entire cast getting some pool time in. One of them could be the killer, but you wouldn’t know that from looking at this crew.

Johnson was eager to duplicate the live-wire energy he captured with the Knives Out cast and he feels he’s succeeded. “It did feel like getting lightning in the bottle again,” Johnson says. “It did absolutely feel similar to the first movie, where it felt like, ‘Oh, wow. This is a really special group of people who are coming together and genuinely having a great time working together.’ That doesn’t always happen.”
What does Leonardo da Vinci’s masterpiece have to do with it all? Find out when Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery hits Netflix on Dec. 23 — just in time for some holiday sleuthing.
