David Corenswet has been flying high this year. After leading director James Gunn’s Superman, Corenswet joined Bridgerton star Jonathan Bailey for Variety’s Actors on Actors. Clips from their conversation made the rounds online, including a viral moment in which they realized they “both kiss [while] levitating” in their latest films: Corenswet in DC’s updated take on the Big Blue Boy Scout and Bailey in Wicked: For Good. But before Corenswet was defying gravity onscreen, he got his start on the stage.
By the time he attended the Juilliard School in New York City, Corenswet had already appeared as a child actor in several professional theater productions, including All My Sons and Macbeth. After graduating, he booked his first movie gig, in the political thriller Affairs of State, and guest stints on series like House of Cards. But his star rose higher when he was cast in two Ryan Murphy series, The Politician and Hollywood. From there, he took on more big-screen roles: He played the Projectionist in Pearl alongside Mia Goth, partnered with Glen Powell to chase tornadoes in Twisters, and, yes, battled Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor as Superman. Keep reading for details on more Corenswet movies and series, including those with Murphy.

This rom-com stars Lili Reinhart (Riverdale) as Natalie, a soon-to-be college graduate whose life diverges into two parallel realities; the audience watches both play out. In one, she gets pregnant after sleeping with her longtime friend, Gabe (Danny Ramirez), and remains in her hometown to raise their child. In the other, the pregnancy test is negative, so she moves to Los Angeles to pursue her dream of becoming an animator. Neither shapes up the way she expected. Corenswet plays Jake, Natalie’s romantic interest in LA. Luke Wilson (No Good Deed), Aisha Dee (Ghosting: The Spirit of Christmas), Andrea Savage (You People), and Nia Long (Fatal Affair) co-star.

Murphy and Ian Brennan created this miniseries about a group of aspiring actors and filmmakers in Hollywood after World War II, when the traditional studio dynamics were crumbling and the new generation embraced unprecedented control. Corenswet plays Jack Castello, an army veteran who moves to Los Angeles to become an actor. He’s joined by a stacked ensemble cast, including Darren Criss (Glee), Laura Harrier (BlacKkKlansman), Joe Mantello (The Boys in the Band), Dylan McDermott (American Horror Story), Jake Picking (Horse Girl), Jeremy Pope (The Inspection), Holland Taylor (The Chair), Samara Weaving (The Babysitter), Jim Parsons (Young Sheldon), and Patti LuPone (The School for Good and Evil).

Ben Platt leads this two-season dramedy created by Murphy, Brennan, and Brad Falchuk about a high school student, Payton Hobart (Platt), who runs for student body president against a popular jock, River Barkley (Corenswet). Payton’s high expectations for himself and his political future often land him in hot water despite interference from his friends and doting mother, Georgina (Gwyneth Paltrow). Zoey Deutch (Set It Up), Lucy Boynton (The Greatest Hits), Jessica Lange (American Horror Story), Judith Light (Ugly Betty), and Bette Midler (Hocus Pocus) also star.
