The only thing better than a full dojo is a full valley of dojos. In Season 5 of Cobra Kai, the villainous Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith) attempts to establish Cobra Kai supremacy in the San Fernando Valley.

The ponytailed sensei puts his plan in motion at the end of Season 4 when he bribes a judge to make Tory Nichols (Peyton List) the first-ever girls’ All Valley Tournament Champion and frames John Kreese (Martin Kove) for attempted murder. Now he’s trying to build an empire centered around his “No Mercy” style of karate, and he’s succeeding thanks to Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) setting karate aside to focus on repairing the damage he’s caused in his life and Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) shutting down Miyagi-do. 

As you can see in the first teaser for the new season below, when Cobra Kai returns Sept. 9, Daniel-san won’t go down without a fight. He’d already decided to call on an old friend for help — nemesis turned ally Chozen Toguchi (Yuji Okumoto) — and Chozen is ready to fight. With the Miyagi-do–trained sensei on his side, can Daniel help the Southern California karate world return to its former glory?
