Agatha Christie’s Seven Dials stars Mia McKenna-Bruce and Corey Mylchreest have plenty to bond over. Their recent work has taken both of their names and faces around the world. McKenna-Bruce grew up on the stage and the screen, landing major roles in 2022’s Persuasion and then in 2023 in How to Have Sex, the latter earning her the BAFTA Rising Star Award. Mylchreest broke out as Young George III in Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, before going on to star in My Oxford Year and Hostage. Now, they meet as Eileen “Bundle” Brent and Gerry Wade in the Agatha Christie caper.

The pair recently caught up before the premiere of their latest series to discuss their early experiences in the industry and the lessons they’ve learned along the way. “I knew from [a young] age that I really wanted to do this forever,” says McKenna-Bruce about her road to this point in her career, “but it’s chaotic … there’s so many ups and downs and uncertainty that if I didn’t have all the people that I do in my life, it would be a lot harder than it is.”
Mylchreest shares her outlook. “The industry is such an enigmatic and ethereal and ever-changing thing,” he says. “You’ve always got to define success for yourself. ‘What’s one thing that I can learn about that so that next time I’m better prepared?’”

On set, McKenna-Bruce took notes from Helena Bonham Carter, her Oscar-nominated co-star who plays her character’s mother. “From Helena in particular, I learned to really look after myself and stand up for myself,” McKenna-Bruce says. “Oh, Helena has a snack basket. She has a little wicker basket with snacks, drinks for energy … to be able to pluck what we need for each scene, you need energy. And she told me about B12!”
