After an exciting summer of soccer, the world’s attention now shifts to the upcoming FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027™. 

With the tournament draw coming before the end of the year, the final teams are looking to punch their tickets to Brazil next summer. 

How many teams will play in the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027? 

There’ll be 32 teams competing at the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027. 

Which teams have qualified for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027?

To date, 18 teams have officially qualified for the tournament: Algeria, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Cameroon, China PR, Colombia, Denmark, France, Germany, Japan, Korea DPR (North Korea), Korea Republic (South Korea), Malawi, Morocco, New Zealand, the Philippines and Spain.

Has the USWNT qualified for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027?

The USWNT has not yet qualified and will compete for its berth at the CONCACAF W Championship from Nov. 27 through Dec. 5, 2026, in Texas. Their first chance to qualify for the 2027 Women’s World Cup will be against El Salvador on Nov. 27 at 2:30 p.m. ET / 11:30 a.m. PT.

Along with the US and El Salvador, participating nations in the qualification tournament will be Canada, Costa Rica, Haiti, Jamaica, Mexico, and Panama. We’ll update this page as additional teams qualify.

Prior to the CONCACAF W Championship, the US plays two international friendly matches against defending FIFA Women’s World Cup champion Spain on Oct. 10 in Washington, DC and Oct. 13 in Chester, PA.

Which teams could qualify next?

While European powerhouses Denmark, France, Germany, and Spain have already qualified for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027, the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) playoffs return Oct. 7 to 13, featuring such teams as England, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, and Sweden competing for seven additional spots in next summer’s tournament.

What is the intercontinental playoff?

The intercontinental playoff is the final stage of FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027 qualification that decides the last three teams of the tournament. This ten-team, two-phase, “mini-tournament” includes countries that didn't qualify directly through their own confederation competition.

The teams competing in the preliminary phase from November 24 to December 5 include Chinese Taipei, Ecuador, Ghana, Papua New Guinea, South Africa, and Uzbekistan. Each team will play three times with the top two advancing to the final playoff round.

These top two finishers will compete in the final phase of qualification in February 2027 against four teams that directly qualify — Venezuela from CONMEBOL, two from Concacaf, and one from UEFA — with the winner of each match securing one of the last three slots at the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027.

Where will the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027 be played?

The tournament will be held in Brazil across eight host cities: Belo Horizonte, Brasília, Fortaleza, Porto Alegre, Recife, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador and São Paulo.

When is the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027?

The tournament begins June 24 and concludes July 25.
