Wonka’s The Golden Ticket debuted at No. 2 on the English TV list with 4.6 million views. The high-stakes experiment inspired by Roald Dahl’s 1964 novel Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and the 1971 film Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory sees 12 lucky golden ticket winners entering the iconic Chocolate Factory to compete for a sweet prize: a lifetime supply of money.
A Different World launched in the No. 4 spot on the list with 4.2 million views. The sequel series to the iconic ’80s and ’90s sitcom centers on Hillman College’s newest class of students — including Deborah (Maleah Joi Moon), the daughter of alumni Dwayne Wayne (Kadeem Hardison) and Whitley Gilbert (Jasmine Guy). The show, which critics are calling “thoughtful” and “timely,” has an opening-credits theme by Brandy that has received more than 1.3 million streams globally across all streaming platforms.
Elsewhere in collegiate fare, Best of the Best stepped up to the No. 2 spot on the English film list with 7.3 million views. Co-written by co-star Hasan Minhaj, the dance-based comedy stars Maitreyi Ramakrishnan and Priyanka Kedia as childhood besties who join UCLA’s cutthroat Bollywood-fusion dance team. Meanwhile, The Whisper Man — the crime thriller starring Robert De Niro, Michelle Monaghan, and Adam Scott — took the No. 5 spot on the list with 4 million views.
Crew Girl, the young adult series in which a gifted teen (Miku Martineau) reclaims her rowing dreams by joining the boys’ varsity crew, sculled to No. 3 for its third consecutive week on the English TV list with 4.5 million views. The second season of The Gentlemen, the stylish crime series about a clandestine marijuana business operating under a family estate, won the No. 5 spot with 4.2 million views, with Season 1 also charting at No. 8 with 2.4 million views.
And for more kid-friendly fare, families tuned in to the latest seasons of two fan-favorite shows: Gabby’s Dollhouse (No. 6, 2.7 million views) and Danny Go! (No. 10, 1.7 million views). And the Indian adventure Irumudi, about a troubled father (Ravi Teja) who undertakes a revered spiritual practice, topped the non-English film list with 3.4 million views.
