Not all serial killers are Freddy Krueger, even if they are dubbed “The Angel of Death.” In fact, they could strongly resemble your friendly co-worker, like in the new movie The Good Nurse. Written by Krysty Wilson-Cairns and directed by Tobias Lindholm (Another Round), the film stars Oscar winners Jessica Chastain and Eddie Redmayne, alongside Nnamdi Asomugha, Noah Emmerich, Kim Dickens, Malik Yoba and Alix West Lefler.
Based on true events as documented in the book The Good Nurse: A True Story of Medicine, Madness, and Murder by Charles Graeber, the upcoming film follows a New Jersey nurse who suspects her colleague is hiding a dark secret. Chastain and Redmayne play nurses in a New Jersey hospital who quickly bond over single parenthood and their shared crazy job — until Chastain’s character becomes suspicious when her patients begin dying mysteriously. Ultimately, she risks her career, safety and life in order to uncover the truth.

The Good Nurse is based on a nail-biting real-life case that saw nurse Charles Cullen implicated in the deaths of hundreds of patients across New Jersey and Pennsylvania over the course of a decade and a half. He was only brought to justice when a brave colleague voiced her suspicions to police.
The first photos from the film show Chastain and Redmayne bonding at work, with Chastain’s character spending time with her two small children and approaching police detectives (Asomugha and Emmerich) about her theory.
