The galaxy of Rebel Moon is getting a little bigger: Two-time Oscar winner Anthony Hopkins is joining the cast of Zack Snyder’s new sci-fi epic. He’ll be playing exactly the role you’d expect from such a renowned thespian: the voice of Jimmy, a sentient battle robot who once defended a slain king. 

We kid, of course: Hopkins is an icon of stage and screen for a reason, but he’s also never been above having some blockbuster fun. Take his sprightly and amusing turn in Thor: Ragnarok or his gorgeously unhinged performance in Transformers: The Last Knight. And, of course, no appreciation of Hopkins’ sillier side would be complete without a shout-out to his pure, blissful social media presence. There’s no doubt in our minds that Jimmy will be another opportunity for one of our greatest actors to cut loose and enjoy himself. 

Rebel Moon is Snyder’s riff on ​​Akira Kurosawa’s classic Seven Samurai: a small space colony that turns to intergalactic warriors to help protect itself from the threatening might of an interstellar empire.

Hopkins joins an already enormous cast, including Sofia Boutella, Charlie Hunnam, Djimon Hounsou, Ed Skrein, Michiel Huisman, Doona Bae, Ray Fisher, Cary Elwes, Alfonso Herrera, Jena Malone and many more.
