Ransom Canyon is welcoming a familiar face to the cast for Season 2: Patricia Clarkson (Lilly, House of Cards) joins Minka Kelly and Josh Duhamel as a guest star in the series, which follows rival ranching family dynasties in the small Texas town of Ransom Canyon.

The Golden Globe– and Emmy-winning actor will play Claire O’Grady, the drop-dead gorgeous mother of Quinn (Kelly), who is both maternal and self-involved. Ben Robson and Heidi Engerman have also joined the cast of the romantic Western drama for Season 2, which has officially begun filming in New Mexico. Below, check out a photo from set.

“We’re thrilled to be back and can’t wait to turn up the steam, the drama, and the romance that Ransom fans have grown to love,” creator April Blair tells Netflix.

In Season 2, the future of Ransom Canyon hangs in the balance as the rival ranchers continue to vie for power, and new faces arrive, threatening the lives and loves of the rugged Hill Country town. Blair (Wednesday, All American) serves as executive producer and showrunner, alongside executive producers Dan Angel, Bradley Gardner, Duhamel, and Kelly.

Alongside Duhamel as grizzled, grieving cowboy Staten and Kelly as concert pianist turned dance hall owner Minka, Season 2’s returning cast members include Lizzy Greene, Garrett Wareing, Jack Schumacher, Marianly Tejada, Casey W. Johnson, Tatanka Means, Justin Johnson Cortez, Philip Winchester, Jennifer Ens, Brett Cullen, Kenny Miller, and Niko Guardado.

Ransom Canyon Season 1 spent four weeks in the Global Top 10 TV (English) list and reached Top 10 TV in 77 countries. The series is the latest addition to Netflix’s collection of comfort entertainment, a trend that reflects a growing audience preference for easy-to-watch stories, perfect for both solo enjoyment and co-viewing. Netflix’s slate of "blue skies" shows, movies, and games includes new seasons of beloved shows such as Virgin River, Sweet Magnolias, The Lincoln Lawyer, and My Life with the Walter Boys, alongside new films like The Wrong Paris and Merry Little Ex-Mas and games like Cozy Grove: Camp Spirit and the upcoming Spirit Crossing.

The series is currently in production at Netflix Studios Albuquerque, a state-of-the-art studio with four new soundstages and several sustainability features. Those sustainability efforts include onsite solar and battery storage systems, geothermal heating and cooling, all-electric appliances, and fast vehicle chargers. These upgrades aim to reduce the studio’s carbon footprint, lower operating costs, enhance energy efficiency, and enable the production of more shows and movies that viewers love.
