Are you ready to head back to the mean streets of Birmingham? Because Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight is treading those cobblestones again. Following the release of the feature film, Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man, the crime drama will return with a sequel series from Knight, which will introduce viewers to a whole new generation of Peaky Blinders, led by Jamie Bell and Charlie Heaton. Set in the 1950s, the timeline of the sequel will pick up after the events that ensue in the World War II-set film

“I am thrilled that we are announcing a new era of Peaky Blinders, moving the story to post-war Birmingham in the early 50s,” Knight says. “We are incredibly fortunate to have Jamie Bell taking the role of Tommy Shelby’s oldest son, Duke, and to have Charlie Heaton also leading the cast [as Tommy’s youngest son, Charles Shelby]. There are more exciting cast announcements to come, and Peaky is on the road again.”

So buckle up — and keep reading to learn the plot, cast, creative team, and more about the Peaky Blinders sequel.

Is Peaky Blinders coming back?

Yes, the Peaky Blinders sequel will include two new six-episode seasons. It will follow the original series, which concluded with Season 6 in 2022, and the feature-length film, Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man, that’s streaming now on Netflix.

Knight says, “Once again it will be rooted in Birmingham and will tell the story of a city rising from the ashes of the Birmingham blitz. The new generation of Shelbys have taken the wheel, and it will be a hell of a ride.”

What is the Peaky Blinders sequel about?

In this new era of Peaky Blinders, a decade after World War Two, the race to rebuild Birmingham becomes a brutal contest of mythical dimensions. This is a city of unprecedented opportunity and jeopardy. At its blood-soaked heart is Duke Shelby (Jamie Bell): older, wiser, more ambitious, and most certainly more dangerous.

Who stars in the Peaky Blinders sequel?

Jamie Bell (All of Us StrangersRocket Man) will star as Duke Shelby, Tommy’s son. The last time we saw the Peaky Blinders’ heir apparent, he was grieving a tremendous loss. Now, with full force, he’s back in Birmingham.

Charlie Heaton (Stranger Things, Industry) will play Charles, the younger son of Tommy Shelby. Having fought a violent war, much of it behind enemy lines, Charles Shelby is now embracing normality. He hasn’t seen his half-brother Duke in years. Charles severed all ties to the Peaky Blinders gang, and the hedonistic Shelby lifestyle. But can you ever escape your own blood?

Also joining the cast is Jessica Brown Findlay (Harlots, Downton Abbey), Lashana Lynch (The Day of The Jackal, No Time to Die), and Lucy Karczewski (Stereophonic) in her television debut.

Who is the creative team of the Peaky Blinders sequel?

Written and created by Steven Knight, the sequel is produced by Kudos (SAS Rogue Heroes, House of Guinness), Banijay UK companies, and Garrison Drama (Peaky Blinders, Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man) for the BBC in the UK and Netflix in the rest of the world, Peaky Blinders is currently being filmed in and around Digbeth Loc. Studios in Birmingham.
