Last time we saw Jackie (Nikki Rodriguez), Cole (Noah LaLonde), and Alex (Ashby Gentry) in the Season 2 finale of My Life with the Walter Boys, they were watching an ambulance take ranch patriarch George Walter (Marc Blucas) to the hospital. With the whole Walter family reeling, it seemed that Jackie and Cole’s confession of love only moments earlier — which Alex happened to overhear — might slip under the radar.
Except, as we learn in the brand-new trailer for Season 3, Jackie meant what she said, and those feelings aren’t going anywhere — especially when she’s in danger of running into a shirtless Cole in their house, or making charged eye contact in the Silver Falls High School hallways. Watch the trailer for Season 3 of My Life with the Walter Boys, coming to Netflix Aug. 6, above. And keep reading to see exclusive photos and hear from Rodriguez, Gentry, and LaLonde about the new season. “I think it is the best season,” LaLonde teases.

If you thought Season 2 was jam-packed with drama and romance, Season 3 ups the ante — and the series has already been renewed for Season 4. “So much happens in the first episode,” Rodriguez says. As we learn in the trailer, it seems that George is going to make it through the terrifying health scare. “What happens at the end of Season 2 is every kid’s worst nightmare,” LaLonde tells Tudum. “It puts a lot of things in perspective.” George’s health is “something they’ll have to deal with for a while,” says matriarch Katherine (Sarah Rafferty) in the trailer.

The incident definitely changes Alex’s point of view, Gentry thinks. “He understands that Jackie doesn’t know why she feels the way that she feels about Cole, and that that’s okay,” says the actor. “Sometimes, when grief strikes, you can’t always explain the actions and consequences of that grief in a logical, rational way.”

As we hear in the trailer, George has some wise words for our overachieving protagonist: “Don’t waste another second feeling guilty. We all just need to get back to living.” Will Jackie finally follow her heart, and what will that mean for her tangled love triangle with brothers Cole and Alex? “Jackie has never put herself first ever, and that manifests in being a perfectionist people pleaser all the time, not making the decisions she wants to, and then making a lot of mistakes,” Rodriguez says. “For the first time, this season she does start to put herself first.”

Matters of the heart aren’t the only place that the Walter Boys characters are taking risks: Just as Katherine and George start to get comfortable with Alex bronc riding, Cole dips his toe into the world of drag racing. Where will Cole’s new hobby take him, and how will Alex fit in with the other Hartford bronc riders? Check in on both brothers’ risky pastimes with some exclusive photos.
And as if Jackie didn’t already have her hands full, the Season 3 trailer also introduces a new suitor fighting for her attention: Jackie’s childhood friend Eliot (Naveen Paddock), or Mr. Harvard, as Cole derisively refers to him in the trailer. Eliot reminds Jackie of her past self and old life in New York City. Does Eliot throw his own hat in the ring for Jackie’s heart?
