Tom Hardy is no stranger to gritty roles, having taken on historical figures, criminals, and iconic supervillains. Now, the Oscar-nominated actor stars in action thriller HAVOC, currently streaming on Netflix.
The high-octane film follows Walker (Hardy), a bruised detective fighting his way through a criminal underworld that threatens to engulf his city. After a drug deal gone wrong, Walker finds himself with several factions on his tail, including a vengeful crime syndicate, a crooked politician, and his fellow cops.
While attempting to rescue the politician’s estranged son, whose involvement in the drug deal starts to unravel a web of corruption and conspiracy, Walker is forced to confront the demons of his past.

HAVOC is written and directed by Gareth Evans (The Raid, Gangs of London), who also produces alongside Hardy, Ed Talfan, and Aram Tertzakian.

Walker is a disillusioned cop harboring a dark past that he hasn’t begun to deal with.
“He’s carrying this intense amount of trauma and grief that has upended his life completely,” director and writer Gareth Evans tells Tudum. “He’s trying to make steps towards re-engaging a relationship with his daughter. It’s two nights before Christmas, but a call comes in at a crime scene, and that’s about to send him on a wild, crazy trajectory of a mission that's going to also force him to confront his demons and his shared past with some of his former colleagues.”

“She’s having to deal with a new mentor figure who is, at the start of the film, undermining her in a big way and underestimating her,” Mei Li says. “[She’s] then having to work out the nuances of the law. She's got a bit of a tall order.”
