KPop Demon Hunters, the animated sensation that broke global streaming records , proved to indeed be golden, winning two of the gleaming statues at the 2026 Golden Globes. Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans’s film about a demon-fighting K-pop girl group won Best Motion Picture - Animated, as well as being recognized for its hit song “Golden,” which topped the charts in 2025.
“When I was a little girl, I worked tirelessly for 10 years to fill one dream, to become a K-pop idol, and I was rejected and disappointed that my voice wasn’t good enough. So I leaned on songs and music to get through it,” said songwriter and singer EJAE as she accepted the Golden Globe for Best Song on behalf of the “Golden” songwriting team. “So now, I’m here as a singer and a songwriter, it’s a dream come true to be part of a song that is helping other girls, other boys, and everyone from all ages get through their hardship and to accept themselves.”
Fellow record-breaker Adolescence also celebrated the evening with four award wins, in the categories Best Limited or Anthology Series or Television Film, Best Actor – Miniseries or Television Film for Stephen Graham, Best Supporting Actor – Series, Miniseries or Television Film for Owen Cooper, and Best Supporting Actress – Series, Miniseries or Television Film for Erin Doherty. Graham, Cooper, and Doherty are all also nominees for the 2026 Actor Awards presented by SAG-AFTRA. Breakout star Cooper broke records earlier in the award season, becoming the youngest male winner of an Emmy and the youngest male winner of the Critics Choice Best Supporting Actor award for his portrayal of Jamie in the series.
In his acceptance speech, Cooper reflected on his acting beginnings that led him to his breakout role in Adolescence. “I took a risk, and I went to drama classes. I was the only boy there. It was embarrassing, but I got through it,” said Cooper. “I’m still very much an apprentice. I’m still learning every day.”
In other celebrations, Ricky Gervais won the award for Best Performance in Stand-Up Comedy on Television for his special Ricky Gervais: Mortality, his fifth career Golden Globe win.
