There’s no better way to wrap up the year than with an explosive double feature. Luckily, Mad Max: Fury Road and its prequel story, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, have both landed on Netflix, so you can close out 2024 (or start 2025 if you’re so inclined) with an action-packed journey through the dystopian desert.

In 2015’s Oscar-winning Fury Road, Charlize Theron stars as Imperator Furiosa alongside Tom Hardy as Max Rochatansky. The pair form an alliance and lead five women fleeing the despotic rule of Immortan Joe (Hugh Keays-Byrne) across a barren wasteland. Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, meanwhile, delves into the origin story of the title character. Starring Anya Taylor-Joy in the eponymous role, the 2024 film tells the tale of a brewing war between the warlord Dementus (Chris Hemsworth) and Immortan Joe (Lachy Hulme.) Young Furiosa (Alyla Browne) — who has been captured and taken from her home — must put together a plan to find her way back.

Here’s what you need to know about the postapocalyptic action films, now streaming on Netflix in the US.
