Everything You Need to Know About 'Cobra Kai Season 3'

Because where do you go after your love quad tears apart a freaking school?

Now that the Cobra Kais and Miyagi-Dos have officially treated their high school like a dojo, things can only go up from here, right? Well, kind of. Miguel, Sam and Robby struggle to recover, physically and emotionally, in the aftermath of their fight. Unfortunately for them, the adults in their life are equally as lost. And there’s no chance that the return of Johnny and Daniel’s former love, Ali, will lead to any additional drama, right?

KEY PLAYERS:

Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka): After his son puts his protégé into a coma, Johnny tries to figure out how to do right by both young men. Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio): Daniel learns you can’t have it all, as the kids’ brawl threatens his business. Amanda LaRusso (Courtney Henggeler): Amanda decides to fight Kreese in her own way (sometimes, money punches harder) as a way to bring peace to the Valley. Unfortunately, for her, it doesn’t work. Miguel Diaz (Xolo Maridueña): Miguel starts off in a coma, but gradually recovers from his (thankfully, temporary) paralysis. Robby Keene (Tanner Buchanan): After initially being on the run, Robby spends much of the season in juvenile detention. Samantha LaRusso (Mary Mouser): Sam suffers from PTSD after her fight with Tory, which leaves her petrified to be around her nemesis. John Kreese (Martin Kove): Kreese takes Cobra Kai to the next level of viciousness, chasing away students who weren’t tough enough to sustain his mentoring. Eli "Hawk" Moskowitz (Jacob Bertrand): Hawk makes it his mission to torment the kids in Miyagi-Do, including breaking his former friend Demetri’s arm. Tory Nichols (Peyton List): Tory really, really, really wants to make Sam’s life a living hell. (It’s working.) Carmen Diaz (Vanessa Rubio): Miguel’s mother worries about his recovery — and what diving back into karate might mean — but also finally gives a relationship with Johnny a chance.

KEY LOCATIONS:

Cobra Kai dojo: Now under Kreese’s management, Amanda tries and fails to bribe the building owner into kicking him and Cobra Kai out of their studio.

LaRusso dealership: Yep, focusing all your attention on karate instead of your day job can be detrimental to business, especially when a Japanese car importer decides to cut the dealership off. LaRusso home: Daniel and Amanda’s home gets absolutely demolished when members of Cobra Kai crash a meeting between Miyagi-Do and the newly-formed Eagle Fang, and a fight breaks out.

KEY PLOT POINTS:

Johnny and Daniel strategize on finding Robby
  1. Robby goes on the run after going way, way too far during his fight with Miguel. It’s so serious that Johnny and Daniel team up to try and find him. Naturally, the longtime frenemies can’t work together for long, and Daniel finds Robby at his mother’s rehab facility. Daniel calls the cops, with the hope that if Robby turns himself in, his punishment won’t be so severe. Robby finishes out his time but feels betrayed by both his father and his father figure.

Miguel lies in a coma on a hospital bed

2. Miguel, meanwhile, is comatose after his crash-landing. He wakes up paralyzed and needs an expensive surgery. Robby takes it upon himself to help with Miguel’s physical therapy. Miguel eventually regains feeling in his legs and is able to stand up/walk again.

Daniel is in tense talks with a business partner

3. As it turns out, having his karate student paralyze another teen doesn’t make Daniel a likable salesperson. That, combined with the threat of losing his supplier of Japanese cars, sends him to Japan, where he tries to make his case for why the manufacturer should continue working with him.

Daniel and wife Amanda run into Daniel's old flame Ali at a party

4. Johnny and Ali reconnect on Facebook, and she comes back to the Valley for the holidays. The two have a nice day together, and later, she invites him to come with her to a party. While there, they run into Daniel and Amanda. The longtime love triangle finally gets some closure, in no small part thanks to Amanda, and Johnny finds himself ready to pursue something real with Carmen.

Johnny creates a rival dojo, teaching students in his Eagle Fang Karate.

5. Kreese turns the Cobra Kai kids into evil demons (exaggerating for effect, but these kids seriously need therapy), prompting Johnny to create a rival dojo, Eagle Fang Karate. Sam and Miguel, who are back together, decide to unite their respective groups to take on Cobra Kai. But as they pitch the idea to their friends, Tory leads Cobra Kai into Sam’s home and a wild fight breaks out. During the brawl, Hawk defects from Cobra Kai, realizing he’s done too much damage to his real friends.

Daniel and Johnny combine forces to take on Kreese and Terry Silver

6. Afterwards, Johnny goes to confront Kreese, who has a new student: Robby. The trio fight, and Daniel comes to help. Kreese suggests they have a tournament, and, if Cobra Kai loses, he’ll leave town for good. But Kreese also has another card up his sleeve, as he calls his old friend Terry Silver for some help (if you’ve seen Karate Kid III, you’ll recognize him). Now that they finally share a common enemy, Daniel and Johnny bring their students together to learn both the Miyagi-do and Eagle Fang approaches.

KEY QUESTIONS:

  1. I’m sorry — Daniel and Johnny working together? Has hell frozen over? (And how long will it last?)

2. Will Ali ever return? Or was this the final farewell both Daniel and Johnny needed to let their shared ex go?

3. How will Terry Silver play into Season 4?

4. How will Robby working with Kreese shake up... everything?

5. Where is the next unlikely spot a massive karate fight’s going to break out?
