Directed by James Wan (Aquaman), Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom stars Jason Momoa (Frontier), Patrick Wilson (The Founder), and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (The Trial of the Chicago 7). What happens in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom?

Four years after hebecame the King of Atlantis by deposing his half-brother Orm (Wilson) and stopping Orm’s attempted war on the surface world, Arthur Curry (Momoa) is happy but so, so bored. He’s delighted to be married to Mera (Heard) and loves being a new father, but Atlantean politics are bumming him out. Arthur can’t get anything done thanks to the ornery Council, which refuses to reveal itself to the surface world. And Atlantis — as well as the other ocean cities — needs to work with surface dwellers if it's going to solve the environmental crisis that threatens to destroy both their worlds.

The oceans are heating up, causing harm to the underwater ecosystem and extreme storms on the surface. The Atlanteans are clueless as to why, until a villainous figure from the past breaks into their secret vaults that store orichalcum — an ancient fuel source that’s no longer used because of its toxic effects on the ocean. Arthur chases the thieves through the city, only to realize he’s fighting David Kane (Abdul-Mateen II), the son of Black Manta, who Arthur killed four years ago.

When David, in his father’s Black Manta suit, escapes with the help of a powerful trident that hasn’t been seen in thousands of years, Arthur realizes this is about more than simple revenge. David’s new unnatural powers stem from a twisted bond with a mysterious entity — which has its own agenda — speaking to him through the trident. Arthur knows there’s only one person who has the knowledge and skill to catch David before he destroys the world, and that’s Orm. Will the two finally find a little brotherly love? Or will their rivalry be the downfall of the world?
