Season 4 of The Witcher is closer than ever, with fresh photos, a new monster to battle, and — finally — a release date to mark on your calendar.
As previously announced, Liam Hemsworth is picking up Geralt of Rivia’s sword for The Witcher’s final two chapters: Seasons 4 and 5. We’ve only had a taste of Hemsworth as Geralt in the previously released teaser. But during Netflix’s Canelo vs. Crawford fight, Hemsworth went full Witcher, introducing the first footage of his new White Wolf in action. And yes, there’s a new monster coming for him.
In the scene, Geralt (Hemsworth) faces a wraith — a ghostly, vengeful spirit. Geralt’s sword proves useless against the spectral foe, so he uses his Witcher Signs: first Aard (to blast it back), then Yrden (to trap it in a magical cage). With the wraith immobilized, Geralt reaches into its chest and crushes the dark, glowing mass at its core, causing the wraith to dissipate into black dust. But even more exciting for viewers, the end of the clip reveals that Season 4 premieres on Netflix Oct. 30.

Showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich teases what’s ahead as the series heads toward its fourth and then fifth and final season. “One of the things we always say is that it wouldn’t be The Witcher if everything ended happily,” Hissrich tells Tudum. “This is the beginning of a two-season journey for our family to finally reunite and be together — hopefully forever.”
Hissrich is excited about the new opportunities the final two seasons have provided the creative team and hopes fans will share that excitement. “Show up, be willing to be surprised, be willing to accept that things look different, and know that the core of what you love is still there,” she suggests. “We also have this amazing opportunity, halfway through a series, to relaunch it — to say, ‘Things are different, we’re coming out of the gate with a bang, and it’s bigger and better than ever.’ ”

The first-look photos underscore that excitement, with Hemsworth stepping into Geralt’s boots, Ciri (Freya Allan) debuting a bold new hairdo, and Laurence Fishburne joining the saga as Regis, the worldly barber-surgeon whose mysterious past makes him one of Season 4’s most anticipated arrivals.
Keep coming back to Tudum for even more Witcher news, and stream the new season on Oct. 30.
