Fall into Autumn with These Movies and Shows This Weekend

The sweetest season of streaming is here.

It’s finally here! The breeze is getting crisp and the leaves crunchy; the lattes are pumpkin-spiced and the weather is sweater at last! This week’s autumn equinox is bringing on the fall, and not a moment too soon.

With the summer heat finally subsiding and the winter chill still yet to come, it’s time to savor this precious moment in between with a stream that serves up immaculate autumn vibes. Watch a brand-new title from this fall movie season, a docuseries about a beloved cool-weather pastime, or a now-classic dramedy that’s become synonymous with this time of year. It’ll be just as satisfying as jumping into a pile of leaves.

  • New on Netflix in July 2026
A man and woman in pioneer clothing sit together outdoors on grass, next to a campfire tripod and a basket, with dry prairie landscape in the background under a clear sky.

But first, what’s new on Netflix?

What’s Next is what’s new: The new five-part docuseries, subtitled The Future with Bill Gates, follows the Microsoft founder as he investigates some of the most pressing new issues affecting our lives today. Rather look back? See the first episode of Live from the Other Side with Tyler Henry, an emotional new series airing live on Tuesdays, in which the famous medium helps celebrity clients find hope. Not the feeling you’re looking for? Try the true-crime drama Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, the follow-up to DAHMER from Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan.

If you have just a night …

Say goodbye. Azazel Jacobs’ acclaimed new drama His Three Daughters is an early entry in this year’s buzzy fall movie season (in addition to a new entry in the cold-weather movie canon). Carrie Coon, Natasha Lyonne, and Elizabeth Olsen star as three estranged sisters who reunite at the bedside of their dying father (Jay O. Sanders). The only thing more layered than the three daughters’ wardrobes is the tension between them, built up over years and finally coming to a head.

If you have a whole day …

Catch this. Football is back, and the limited docuseries Receiver, executive-produced by Peyton Manning, takes a close look at one of the game’s most essential roles. Released this July, the follow-up to last year’s Quarterback follows five pro athletes over the course of the 2023–2024 NFL season — Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams, San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle and wide receiver Deebo Samuel, Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson, and Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown — with access to the players’ lives both on and off the field, including moments with their teammates, coaches, and families.

If you have the entire weekend …

Follow where they lead. Autumn’s arrival means it’s time for Gilmore Girls, so use this weekend to kick off the series, whether it’s your first or 50th time watching. Created by Amy Sherman-Palladino, the chatty dramedy (which originally ran from 2000–2007) stars Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel as a close-in-age (and in spirit) mother and daughter living in a charmingly eccentric New England town. All seven seasons (plus the four-part 2016 revival, A Year in the Life) are available to carry you all the way through the autumn — until you can smell snow.

Don’t forget, you have one last chance …

To enter his world. The Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy of erotic dramas — Sam Taylor-Johnson’s Fifty Shades of Grey (2015) and James Foley’s Fifty Shades Darker (2017) and Fifty Shades Freed (2018) — portray the sadomasochistic relationship between a wealthy businessman (Jamie Dornan) and a naive student (Dakota Johnson). At the end of the month, Mr. Grey won’t see you anymore
