For the astrologically inclined, you know what’s coming. For the cosmically clueless, here’s what’s up: March is going to be celestially wild! A tense Venus retrograde kicked off the month, a messy Mercury retrograde arrives next weekend, and lunar and solar eclipses will make dramatic appearances in the middle and at the end of the month, respectively. Then, for a grand finale, Neptune will move into Aries — a spot it hasn’t visited since 1861.

When faced with such wild transits, settle in and stream something that embraces the madness. Soothe yourself with a nature show about earthlings’ unbreakable bond with the beyond, indulge the chaos with an imaginative drama, or let yourself spiral with a few movies that envision just how much can possibly go wrong. (It’ll be fun!) Now get streaming, stargazers. 

But first, what’s new on Netflix?

A dreamy gathering of friends. The highly anticipated lifestyle docuseries With Love, Meghan, in which the Duchess of Sussex shares her most elegant tips for cooking, hosting, and gardening, is finally here. Not your kind of party? Forgo California casual for European decadence with The Leopard, the new adaptation of Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa’s classic historical novel (previously adapted for the screen in 1963 by Luchino Visconti) created by Richard Warlow and directed by Tom Shankland. The stylish six-part miniseries portrays the fate of an aristocratic family against the backdrop of Italian unification in the late 19th century (close to 1861, in fact). Still too tame for you? Descend into CHAOS: The Manson Murders, the new documentary from Errol Morris that poses fresh questions about one of the most famous — and most disturbing — crimes of the 20th century. 

If you have just a night … 

Dip into Our Universe. Morgan Freeman narrates the 2022 nature docuseries, created by Naomi Austin, Stephen Cooter, and Alice Jones, that examines the mysteries of our grand universe and how its farthest corners still affect life all the way down here on Earth. Sample an episode or two (like “Chasing Starlight” or “The Cosmic Clock”) to pass a pleasant retrograde-pressured evening, or make a marathon of the whole six-episode limited series. 

If you have a whole day … 

Let KAOS reign. Jeff Goldblum stars as Zeus in this zany 2024 drama, created by Charlie Covell, that reimagines Greek mythology in a modern setting. From his perch atop Mount Olympus, the almighty king of the gods is consumed with insecurity and paranoia as he looks down on a world fighting back after Prometheus (Stephen Dillane) recruits three mortals (Aurora Perrineau, Leila Farzad, and Misia Butler) to help overthrow the big boss.  

If you have the entire weekend … 

Let it all burn. Watch a series of films that tell a fractured story about the fate of the world — starting with a few that feature threats from above. Adam McKay’s 2021 satirical dark comedy Don’t Look Up, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence, and Lars von Trier’s 2011 art-house sci-fi drama Melancholia, starring Kirsten Dunst, present wildly different visions of a celestial body’s colliding with Earth (as a metaphor for climate change and depression, respectively). For an apocalypse that will read as Mercury-coded to your astrologically attuned friends, Sam Esmail’s Leave the World Behind (based on the novel by Rumaan Alam) kicks off the end of the world with a series of technological breakdowns; Julia Roberts, Ethan Hawke, and Mahershala Ali struggle to navigate them. 

But why stop at the end? Look to the postapocalypse, too! George Miller’s six-time Oscar–winning 2018 action opus Mad Max: Fury Road, which rebooted the Mad Max franchise, stars Tom Hardy in the title role alongside Charlize Theron as an unlikely team fleeing a tyrant in a desert wasteland. Its acclaimed 2024 prequel, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, stars Anya Taylor-Joy in a revenge-fueled origin story for Theron’s Imperator Furiosa. Finally, throw it way back to the future with a good drenching from Waterworld, Kevin Reynolds’ 1995 cult classic in which Kevin Costner plays a nameless hero sailing a water-covered Earth.  

Don’t forget, you have one last chance … 

For a dark nighttime stroll. Scott Frank’s 2014 neo-noir A Walk Among the Tombstones, based on the novel by Lawrence Block, stars Liam Neeson as Block’s famous detective Matthew Scudder as he investigates a string of violent crimes with an unexpected link. In another week, the film will make a run for it.
