Wednesday fans, hold on to your umbrellas. The highly anticipated series has finally revealed its release date — as well as a spooky new poster for fans to study. Featuring Jenna Ortega holding an umbrella in her midnight-manicured hands, this new Wednesday artwork announces the launch of the news series on the little stinker’s namesake day, Wednesday, Nov. 23.

What else do we know about the show? Well, when Wednesday Addams is expelled from her provincial public high school for an incident involving a group of bullies, a swimming pool and a bag of ravenous piranhas (naturally), she finds herself sent away to Nevermore Academy — the mysterious magical boarding school where her parents first met. There, Wednesday learns a lot more than what can be found in any textbook as a string of brutal murders lures her into a mystery that will test her typically ice-cold level of detachment.
"We've never seen [Wednesday] as a teenager before. Her snarky, snide remarks might not necessarily sound as charming when they're coming from somebody who should probably know better than a 10-year-old girl," Ortega says. "That was a balancing act. We didn’t want to make her sound like every other teenage girl, but we also didn’t want to make her too ignorant. And we've never seen her on-screen this much. Any other time you've seen Wednesday, she's been the one-liner, the end of a joke, she always hits it, and I think that's what people really love about her. But in this show, every scene is Wednesday. There's an opportunity to give her a bit more dimension, and she becomes a bit more of a real person, which I don't think we've ever seen before."
As an extra treat, you can now get your own tour of Nevermore Academy in this new video, which offers a glimpse into the halls of the hallowed school, a peek at some of its infamous alumni, clues towards the identities of Wednesday’s classmates and even an opportunity to apply to attend the abnormal academy yourself. Who could pass that up?

Wednesday comes straight from the twisted minds of showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar (Smallville), as well as creepy king Tim Burton (Beetlejuice, Ed Wood), who directed several episodes. Alongside Ortega, the series stars Gwendoline Christie, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, Emma Myers and Hunter Doohan.
Wednesday is snapping onto Netflix on Nov. 23, so keep your eyes peeled for any more information — including at this weekend’s Tudum fan event.
