Too Hot to Handle Season 3 has everything: awkward serenades, harsh punishments and a prize fund completely drained of life. (If you don’t want any more spoilers than that, turn back now — the most spoilery of spoilers ahead.) But one couple manages (not) to snog their way to the top: Beaux and Harry.
Fans have rabidly devoured Beaux and Harry’s friends-to-lovers storyline: Initially a platonic pair, a late-night confession from Harry takes the relationship to another level, ultimately earning them the first green light of the season (the Lana equivalent of a hall pass). In the finale, they win what’s left of the prize fund — the first-ever coupled winners. Though they’ve since — sorry to break it to you — broken up, the two still talk all the time and may have even “shed a few tears” while watching the season back. So is there hope for the self-named HarriBeaux?
“We always never say never, don't we?” Beaux tells Tudum.
You’ve probably been waiting for this moment for a long time. How's the reaction been since the show premiered?
Beaux: Oh my God, overwhelmed is an understatement. It's been crazy. We've just got so much love and support, which we didn't think that we'd have. Obviously, you think you'd get a little bit, but not this much. Just been crazy — my phone's not stopped buzzing.
Harry: I feel like I'm on the journey with them as well. I’m reinvested in our journey together. It's mad. Might have shed a few tears.
Beaux: Wouldn't be the first time.
What made you cry, Harry?
Harry: Just our little cute moments and seeing Beaux open up. Obviously, I was there during filming, so watching it all back, you can see exactly where it all began and when Beaux started letting her guard down — the cute dates, the green lights. It was a lot to watch. My little brother rang me. He was like, "I'm crying." I was like, "No! Me too!"
Was there anything you were surprised to see on the show when you watched it back?
Beaux: I hadn’t seen the way that Harry talked about me, so obviously that. When he said things to me in the retreat, sometimes it went over my head, but when you watch it over, I'm like, "Oh, he has got a little bit of a soft side."
Harry: I was so mushy, wasn't I, with the boys?
Beaux: I think we both were. People are doing edits of us at the moment and then putting all of our pictures and videos and stuff together. When you see that in a whole, honestly it makes me so emotional. It's so cute.
Have you guys spent any of the prize fund yet?
Harry: We haven't got it yet!
Anything can happen when Lana's holding the purse strings.
Beaux: I think it will take a little while. But it gives us time to plan, doesn't it Harry?
Have you started to plan your trip to the Maldives?
Harry: No, not yet. We don't know when to go now, obviously.
Beaux: We're just so busy with everything. We're like, "Well, when can we get a bit of time off?" I think we need to leave our phones at home, but we'll have to get Izzy as our third wheel to come and take pictures.
At the reunion, you revealed you’re no longer together. Are you still in touch?
Harry: We talk every day, pretty much. We always have, it's really weird.
Beaux: If anything, the split’s brought us a little bit closer, hasn't it? Those memories are all coming back and... I'm not saying too much now, because I’m gonna blow your head up!
Harry: We're seeing each other tomorrow, as well, for the first time.
Beaux: What is it? For nine months, I think.
What will you be getting up to together?
Harry: We've got a hot chocolate promo in London. And then we're going to get some food — aren't we, Beaux?
Beaux: Yeah, go get some food, have a chat, nice catch-up.
Harry: Don't get any ideas.
Mhm, not at all. Are you guys still in touch with the rest of the cast?
Beaux: Yeah. We talk every so often. I speak to Izzy every day. Everyone else — I think we all keep in contact, don't we?
Harry: Yeah. We've been speaking to a couple of others from the previous seasons as well, getting a bit of advice off them and stuff. It's like one big family really, isn't it? A bit of an incest family, but it's a family.
Who have you been talking to from previous seasons? What kind of advice have they given you?
Harry: Well, I've just come off the phone this morning with [Season 2’s] Cam. He was just like, "Embrace it. Don't feel like you always need to be doing something," because that's how he felt. As soon as he said that, I said, "That's exactly how I feel."
I woke up quite late this morning, and I was thinking, “Damn, what should I be doing? Should I be uploading pictures?” I got caught up in reading stuff about me and Beaux. Everyone's like, "I need to see you both," and “I need to know you're still together.” Someone said, "I'll die happy if I know you're still together."
Beaux: Like, “If you're not married with two kids, then I'm going to commit.” I was like, “No!” It really makes you think!
That's a lot of pressure.
Beaux: Just a tad. I mean, even if they realize that we're not together, we are very close still. We always never say never, don't we? The motto is TBC.
Harry: Everything happens for a reason. If it's meant to be, it'll be.
What's kind of the biggest lesson you learned from your time on the show?
Beaux: I think it was just the whole journey in general — just myself opening up and learning to trust someone a little bit more. Obviously, in the past I've been hurt, so trying to have someone to trust again is a little bit hard. Your guard has just automatically gone up again — but I really opened up to Harry, and my guard is, like, down here with him now. I'm vulnerable.
Harry: I always say the word patient, because I think before I've always been an all-or-nothing kind of person. In the retreat, you can't escape your problems and you've got to face them head on. Obviously, to watch it back as well, you can understand why certain people are a bit in themselves, and you've got to go through a journey with them to open them up. I went through that myself without even realizing. You kind of reflect on your character, and you think, “I can't always be a closed book.” I'm a lot more open and a lot more patient with people.
Now that the show’s out, you’re basically starting a whole new chapter. What’s next for you two?
Harry: I don't know. You don't know it's Too Hot to Handle going in, so you don't know what's going to come off the back of it. We just went on it thinking it was Pleasure Island, a new series. Then when you've come out, you've got a blue tick and all these people in your DMs — it's a bit overwhelming. I think I'm a happy-go-lucky kind of person. Anything I get off the back of it is a bonus. I don't really have a plan — I never have, really. I'm like a big kid — you've seen me on the show.
Beaux: It's all exciting at the moment. I'll be grateful for anything that comes off the back of it.
So be honest: You guys really believed you were on Pleasure Island?
Beaux: Yeah!
Harry: I'd never seen Too Hot to Handle, so when Lana came out, I didn't even know what Lana was.
Beaux: I thought she was an air freshener. What did you think she was?
Harry: A lava lamp. Yeah, definitely had me tricked. And when we came out of the retreat, we got separated — girls and boys — before we all flew home. So me and Stevan were right in the top room just binge-watching Season 1 in bed because it was like, “This is what you've just been on!”
