The last time we saw renowned tailor Peyami in the very soapy Turkish series The Tailor, he was taking a bullet for his best friend, Dimitri. Or so-called best friend, anyway: The two are nearly sworn enemies, since Peyami stole the heart of Dimitri’s fiancee, Esvet. And it’s Esvet who shot Peyami — though she was aiming for Dmitri, her abuser.
Now, onto The Tailor Season 2. Peyami, recovering from being shot and losing the love of his life, is drowning his sorrows at the club, as one does. It’s there he meets Cemre, who encourages him to pop some pills and forget his troubles. After a night spent partying together, Peyami brings Cemre as his date to Dimitri and Esvet’s nuptials. Yes, even after the shoot-out, Dimitri — as controlling and awful as ever — insists on marrying Esvet; what’s more, he wants Peyami as his witness. Will Peyami and Esvet ever run away together? Will Peyami finally find his long-lost mother? Will Peyami’s father, Mustafa — who’s still hidden away so as not to bring shame to Peyami — remain in the shadows? It’s anyone’s guess what’ll happen next.

This season, Peyami nurses his wounds and tries to forget about all his pain — which is increasingly hard, as his longtime friend Dimitri is finally getting married to Peyami’s one true love, Esvet. To get over his heartache, Peyami starts seeing Cemre, a mysterious party girl. He also recommits to finding his mother, whom he’s never known, and struggles with what to do about his father, Mustafa, who he’s been hiding because of the belief that Mustafa’s disability will tarnish his reputation. But with Dimitri still scheming, Peyami’s secrets are unsafe — and so is Esvet.
Yes. It’s inspired by real events.
The series takes place in Istanbul.
