The world’s largest soccer tournament is nearly here, and Netflix is bringing a popular UK soccer podcast to the masses.

The Rest Is Football hosted by English soccer legends Gary Lineker, Alan Shearer, and Micah Richards — lands in New York this summer as a daily show during the duration of the tournament.

The show kicks off on June 10, and will feature game analysis, special guests, interviews, and insights into the on- and off-field action.

“We can’t wait to bring The Rest Is Football to Netflix for the 2026 World Cup,” Lineker says. “It’s a fantastic opportunity for the three of us to do what we love — talk football every day — but on a truly global stage. Expect all the usual analysis, honesty, and plenty of laughs. Just with a few more cameras pointed at us, all from the Big Apple.”

How to watch The Rest Is Football on Netflix

The Rest Is Football will be available globally on Netflix, included in all plans. The show will stream at 6 a.m. BST / 1 a.m. ET / 10 p.m. PT and will subsequently become available for rewatch and streaming.

“The World Cup is as big as it gets, and bringing The Rest Is Football to Netflix during the tournament is a brilliant opportunity to get stuck into the football properly,” Shearer continues. “There’ll be huge performances, big decisions, pressure moments, and plenty for supporters to debate — exactly what we love talking about.”

The Rest Is Football is produced by Goalhanger, the team behind The Rest Is History and The Rest Is Politics.

Who are the hosts of The Rest Is Football?

The Rest Is Football consists of a legendary roster of hosts with deep ties to the global game.

Gary Lineker: A former striker for Leicester City F.C., Everton F.C., FC Barcelona, and Tottenham Hotspur F.C., Lineker earned the Golden Boot award for England at the 1986 FIFA World Cup. After his illustrious playing career, Lineker seamlessly transitioned to the media side as the anchor of BBC’s Match of the Day for more than 25 years.

Alan Shearer: The all-time leading goal-scorer in English Premier League history, Shearer’s Hall of Fame career included stops at Southampton F.C., Blackburn Rovers F.C., and Newcastle United F.C. while captaining England at the 1998 FIFA World Cup and UEFA Euro 2000. For the past 20 years, Shearer has been a mainstay pundit for BBC.

Micah Richards: A former right back for the likes of Manchester City F.C., ACF Fiorentina, and Aston Villa F.C., Richards earned English Premier League and FA Cup titles in his career. At the age of 18, he was the youngest defender to debut for England and played in the 2012 Summer Olympics. Since retiring, Richards has appeared on Sky Sports, BBC Sport, and CBS Sports as a pundit.

“I’m absolutely buzzing for this,” Richards adds. “World Cup, Netflix, New York, and The Rest Is Football on a massive stage — what more could you want? It’s going to have everything people love about the show: proper analysis, big opinions, dressing-room stories and, knowing us, plenty of laughs as well.”

The Rest Is Football returns for Premier League season

Following a widely successful 40-day run of daily episodes filmed in New York during the summer soccer action in North America, The Rest is Football will return to Netflix for the upcoming Premier League season.

The show will air weekly on Netflix starting in August, bringing the co-host trio’s trademark mix of expert analysis, unfiltered debate, the biggest talking points and plenty of laughs throughout the Premier League season.

“We had a brilliant time making the show during the World Cup, and the response was incredible, so it’s great to be back on Netflix every week throughout the Premier League season,” Lineker shared. “The Rest Is Football podcast will continue across the week too, while the Netflix show gives us another chance to get stuck into the biggest stories. Expect plenty of opinions, plenty of laughs and, with Alan and Micah involved, probably a few arguments as well.”

The Rest Is Football became one of Netflix’s hits of the summer, appearing in the Daily Top 10 TV chart every day of its run, peaking at No. 1 in the UK.
