We’ve all blacked out at a lavish Nantucket wedding and discovered the maid of honor deceased the next morning, right? That’s the name of the game in Netflix Stories: The Perfect Couple, and you’re a suspect.
The Perfect Couple doesn’t waste any time before thrusting you into the middle of a high-society murder investigation. As soon as you create your bridesmaid character, you’re being questioned about the death of bride Amelia’s maid of honor, Merritt. The interrogations, and the recounting of the previous two days’ events, serve as the game’s narrative framework.
Amelia and your character were college roommates. Now, you’re her bridesmaid at the Winburys’ opulent family estate, Summerland. But nothing is as perfect as it seems, and the walk-in closets are rife with skeletons. Amelia’s mom is famed murder mystery novelist Greer Winbury, matriarch of one of the wealthiest families on Nantucket. More money, more problems.
The residents of Summerland know a thing or two about holding a grudge, and what unfolds feels eerily similar to something that would play out in one of Greer’s bestsellers. Everyone in the house is on edge. Their happy facades break and they’re all sighing and exasperated. Something’s afoot and no one is being honest. From the moment you meet up with Merritt and Amelia, there’s no shortage of people who want to get some one-on-one time with you. The affluent Winbury family has ears everywhere, so new and old friends alike want to get you alone to talk.
Even before Merritt washes up on the beach, you’re asked to start investigating what’s going on with the family. From there, well, it’s a murder most foul.
To take the edge off, you overindulge at the rehearsal dinner and black out. The next morning, Summerland is a crime scene — and fingers are pointed at you.

The Perfect Couple is a narrative adventure game based on the hit Netflix drama of the same name. The twist here is that, unlike other mobile adaptations, this one is less about smooching and finding love and more about solving a murder. There’s drama, of course, but it’s not the same as other games based on Netflix’s reality shows. You’ll still find love along the way, too. It’s just that, this time out, it’s not your main objective.
To crack this case, you’ll have to talk to everyone at Summerland, picking alliances and forging friendships. Even the most innocuous choices can have rippling consequences. Each conversation you have will reveal a little more about a given character’s personality and motives — and get you closer to revealing their secrets.
Can you clear your good name? Will you become the next victim? Only you know the answers to those questions. Time to get snooping.
There’s no way you’ll see and do everything the first time you play. To unlock all the collectibles and see how your choices affect the endings, you’ll have to keep going back to Summerland. Who knows, maybe you won’t make out with Detective Nick on the beach this time.
Will you solve the crime, let a killer go free, or wind up the next victim? It’s all up to you and what you choose. You’ll see the outcome of your dialogue decisions frequently — but there isn’t a running log of who thinks what about you, so you’ll have to pay attention.
Unlike some other mobile game adaptations, romance isn’t the emphasis of The Perfect Couple. Your focus is on solving the murder and making sure justice prevails, not finding your soulmate or next fling. Of course, there are still plenty of options for love, and you don’t have to leave Nantucket single. But the prize you’re keeping your eye on is a lot different at Summerland.
There’s more to the presentation and gameplay than a typical murder-mystery narrative. You’ll text back and forth with characters in the story, and there are also a number of collectibles and juicy hidden secrets to unlock.
Four, officially. The specifics of how each one plays out change based upon the decisions you made before you got to the finish line. The relationships you form, the secrets you uncover, and your detective work all shape the conclusion you reach. And it’s easy to play through a few times and make different choices to unlock new endings.
Absolutely not. The Perfect Couple mobile game takes the Netflix series and the New York Times bestselling novel it’s based upon and mixes things up a bit. This stand-alone game doesn’t require any watching or reading beforehand.
