An Outsider’s Guide to Netflix Stories: The Perfect Couple, the Mobile Game

Watch out for all of Nantucket’s sharks.

When you wake up on the beach and there’s a maid of honor’s dead body nearby, a perfect destination wedding is no longer so. In Netflix Stories: The Perfect Couple, everyone’s a suspect, and you’ll have to wade knee-deep in family turmoil to clear your good name. Child’s play, right? Well, we’re here to help navigate these turbulent waters and make sure you leave Nantucket with a pulse.

Who’s in Netflix Stories: The Perfect Couple?

The cast from the show of the same name are all here — they just look a little different than you might expect. Their personalities remain the same: Thom is still a raging jerk, and Greer is as steely as ever. Tag? He’s still the cool, collected dad you know from the Netflix drama and New York Times bestselling novel.

  • Abby Winbury: Amelia’s pregnant soon-to-be sister-in-law has a gold medal in throwing daggers with her eyes.
  • Amelia Sacks: Your bubbly college roommate who’s marrying into a crazy, rich family. She knows something is up with the Winburys and wants you to find out what it is.
  • Benji Winbury: Amelia’s fiancé, caught between loyalty to his family and his bride-to-be.
  • Chief Carter: Island politics seem to impede his investigation at every turn, but he’s steadfast in his pursuit of justice.
  • Detective Nick: The handsome detective assigned to Merritt’s case. He doesn’t let romance get in the way of his professional duties, just so you know.
  • Greer Winbury: Bestselling murder mystery novelist and matriarch of the Winbury family. Her formidable resolve has served her well in life, but may not have resulted in the most functional family.
  • Isabel Nallet: Friend of the family who flew in from France for the wedding. She may have more than one reason for being at Summerland — whether she’ll tell you or not is another matter.
  • Merritt Monaco: Amelia’s effervescent maid of honor who sets the entire story in motion when she’s found dead on the beach the morning of Amelia’s wedding.
  • Shooter Dival: Benji’s best friend from boarding school. He’s basically an honorary Winbury.
  • Tag Winbury: He and Greer have been married for 30 blissful years, and everything is picture-perfect. Or is it?
  • Thomas Winbury: A wolf of Wall Street and constant thorn in your side during the investigation.

Beachcombing for clues.

As you play through The Perfect Couple, you’ll find potential evidence strewn about Summerland. As you collect it, it helps shape the story. Items like a posh but broken phone case might just be what cracks the case. Or maybe it’s a red herring. You’ll never know until you look a little further.

This is the way the story ends.

There are four endings in The Perfect Couple, but that’s not the entire story. You won’t just get one of the four randomly. The decisions you make, the relationships you form, and the secrets you uncover will alter the endings further. You can die, you can wind up in jail, you can frame someone else for the crime, or you can prove your own innocence. Or maybe none of that happens.

Each of the four ending paths have two variations, and there are eight characters with secrets to uncover. You’ll be surprised at how these different combinations affect how the story plays out. Need more incentive? You’ll only see a few parts of the game if you play through a second time.

Each time you finish a run, you’ll see how many endings you’ve unlocked so far. To help make sure you don’t accidentally make the same decisions again and get the same ending, there are footprints that show you which choices you’ve made before. These stay visible so you always know which choices are fresh and new.

Love is in the air.

What’s a wedding without a little romance for everyone else? Love is for more than just the couple at the altar. Finding a new boo while you’re investigating a murder might sound a little unorthodox, but times like these tend to bring people together in unexpected ways. If you play your cards right, you can leave the island with your lover once you’ve cracked the case.

You’ve got some tough choices too, with three love interests to choose from.

  • Benji: Do you really want to steal the groom as a bridesmaid? We’re not stopping you.
  • Detective Nick: Dating a cop who’s working a case you’re a suspect in probably causes just a little bit of conflict of interest.
  • Isabel: There’s something about an accent.

Whodunit?

If you’ve made it this far and want some supreme spoilers, here you go:

In a complete break from the book and the show, the killers are either Greer or Thomas. You had your suspicions all along, right? Abby stays in the clear this time.
