There’s something for everyone in the new trailer for The Out-Laws: a bakery shoot-out, a car chase through a cemetery and of course, a meeting between those two icons of the silver screen, Pierce Brosnan and Richard Kind. As a mismatched pair of in-laws, the two actors share a lightly passive-aggressive introduction in the teaser — one that had a real-world impact on Brosnan. “I told my wife that,” the erstwhile action hero tells Tudum. “She just howled with laughter. ‘You’re very handsome.’ ‘Thank you.’ ‘Not a compliment.’ ”
In The Out-Laws, Brosnan’s charm and good looks are a weapon. As one member of the notorious “Ghost Bandits” bank robbery crew, he and Ellen Barkin embark on a reign of terror that ensnares their daughter Parker (Nina Dobrev) and her fiancé Owen (Adam Devine), who just happens to be a bank manager. Sound like a mess? Well, things get even more complicated when Parker is kidnapped and held for ransom — forcing Owen and the Ghost Bandits to team up and go on an unlikely crime spree to save her. Check out the trailer above, and meet The Out-Laws’ colorful cast of characters below. The new comedy starts streaming on Netflix July 7.

Owen (Adam Devine) in The Out-Laws.
Who he plays: Bank manager and unlikely Ghost Bandit ally Owen

Where you’ve seen him: Pitch Perfect, The Intern, Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates, Jexi, Isn’t It Romantic
What he has to say about his character: “Owen is pretty timid and scared and a little bit of a pushover. And I think he grows a spine throughout the movie for his love of Parker, played by Nina Dobrev, who’s my fiancée in the film. He just loves her so much he’s willing to risk life and limb, and really kind of grows a backbone.”

And then, when he signed on to do the movie, I brought that up, and he was like, ‘So that was you?’ He was like, ‘I thought you were some YouTube kid.’ ” — Adam Devine
