Our titular hero got his name because he eschews a brick-and-mortar office for one on wheels: namely, his Lincoln SUV. But he’s forced to put down roots when a fellow lawyer, Jerry Vincent, mysteriously dies and leaves his entire practice — and entire case load — to Mickey. Born in Los Angeles and raised partially in Mexico by his mother, Mickey returns to work after a hiatus at the start of Season 1. (He became dependent on prescription pain pills following an accident, but has now kicked the habit.) He has two ex-wives (with whom he’s still very friendly) and relies on a client turned driver to chauffeur him around his hometown. After establishing himself as the “hottest defense lawyer in LA” through numerous tough cases over three seasons, Mickey now finds himself facing his most difficult one yet. In the last scene of Season 3’s finale, the body of a former client and con man named Sam Scales is discovered in the trunk of Mickey’s car, and he’s suspected of the murder.

The Magnificent Seven, Goliath, From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series

Deputy district attorney Maggie is Mickey’s first ex-wife and the mother of his daughter, Haley. Maggie deeply believes in the justice system, which is occasionally at odds with Mickey’s view of the power structure in the US. (He fights for the underdogs who don’t have the power of bureaucracy behind them.) Maggie and Mickey divorced because Mickey lost himself in his work instead of focusing on his family, but there are still sparks between the two. 

Mickey’s endless pursuit of the truth may cause another rift between them at the end of Season 1, but that spark is still there. And even if she rolls her eyes, Maggie can’t exactly fault Los Angeles Lawyer magazine for putting him on the cover. She did marry the man. At the end of Season 2, Maggie shares a romantic evening with Mickey and it seems likely they’ll rekindle their relationship. The morning after, she drops the bombshell on Mickey that she’s been offered a job with the DA’s office in San Diego and is moving there. 

In Season 4, Maggie finds herself working on the other side of the system while Mickey fights to prove his innocence in a criminal murder case. According to co-showrunners Ted Humphrey and Dailyn Rodriguez, the bond between Maggie and Mickey is special and “in some ways unbreakable,” but this season, it’s “tested as never before, and the audience will have to watch to see where things go from here.”

Skyscraper, The Craft 

Mickey is close to his second ex-wife, Lorna, too. So close, in fact, that for years, she served as his office manager and paralegal of sorts. And, after graduating law school and passing the bar in Season 3, Lorna became an associate at Mickey’s firm. Although they’ve been split for years and Lorna is now married to Mickey’s private investigator Cisco, they still admire each other. With Mickey on trial in Season 4, it’s on Lorna to keep the firm afloat. “She’ll make rookie mistakes, but she’ll also bring her own inimitable style and street smarts to bear as she begins what’s going to be a lifelong journey for her into becoming a seasoned attorney herself,” Humphrey and Rodriguez share.

How I Met Your Mother, Divorce

Originally one of Mickey’s clients, Izzy is a former professional dancer who’s recovered from a painkiller addiction. When she doesn’t have enough money to pay for Mickey’s services, he offers her a job instead: as his personal driver. When Lorna takes on her new role as an attorney for Haller and Associates in Season 3, Izzy is promoted to office manager and also begins going to school to become a paralegal. Practical and hardworking, she’s a steady and reliable force at the firm. And, like her character, Raycole is a professionally trained dancer. 

Jericho, The Quad

In addition to being Mickey’s key investigator, Cisco is also Lorna’s husband. He’s a former biker gang member with street smarts to spare and plenty of LAPD connections that come in handy. Like everyone else, he’s also on Team Mickey (despite being married to his ex-wife).

Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous, Fargo

David “Legal” Siegel is the former partner of Haller’s late attorney father. When Haller needs advice, he turns to Siegel for his irreverent humor and wisdom. 

Gould is an icon of hard-boiled LA dramas: He starred as the legendary detective in Robert Altman’s 1973 film The Long Goodbye, which set the stage for future tales of Los Angeles’ underbelly. 

Contagion, Ray Donovan

Hayley is Mickey and Maggie’s daughter, who sometimes has qualms with her father’s representation of criminals.  

Middlehood

An esteemed local chef and community advocate, Lisa becomes Mickey’s love interest in Season 2. She’s a woman who knows what she wants and isn’t afraid to go after it, especially if it means fighting a predatory real estate developer who wants to gentrify her neighborhood. Soon after getting involved with Mickey, though, she’s accused with murder and hires him as her lawyer. When a figure from that case comes back into play during Mickey’s own murder trial in Season 4, so too does Lisa.

Spin City, Swingtown, Miami Medical

Formerly known as Alex Grant, Alex Gazarian is a shady construction company owner who was previously under investigation by the FBI for ties to the Armenian mob. After Mickey caused Gazarian to lose a major construction deal in Season 2, could he be seeking revenge this season?

Party of Five, David’s Mother, SLC Punk!

A con man with many identities, Sam Scales has been in the Haller and Associates orbit since Season 1, and in Season 3, he officially becomes a client. But, the season leaves off on a cliffhanger when, after a verbal altercation over legal fees, Sam’s body it discovered in the trunk of Mickey’s car. “Lorna’s career started off with a bang representing Sam Scales, and we all see how that turned out!” say Humphrey and Rodriguez. Now on trial for Sam’s murder, Mickey is in for the fight of his life in Season 4.

Magnum P.I., Sympathy for Delicious, Vice Principals

“Death Row” Dana Berg, as she’s known among the LA legal community, is the prosecutor assigned to Mickey’s murder trial. Her cutthroat approach to making sure every defendant she faces is found guilty has earned her a reputation as a tough adversary — and many more nicknames. Mickey’s beaten Berg before, but of course, as both the defendant and the counsel for the defense in this case, he’s got his work cut out for him going against the Iceberg.

UnREAL, Good Trouble, Entourage

In the midst of a very messy separation from her cheating ex-husband, Celeste Baker turns to Lorna for legal counsel. “We will see [Lorna] begin to come into her own as a lawyer this season via … an amusing divorce case featuring Kyle Richards as the client,” say Humphrey and Rodriguez.

While serving time as inmates in LA County jail, Bamba and Mickey form a professional relationship. On the inside, he protects Mickey in exchange for money and the promise of more reliable work when — or if — they’re both released.

Listed as shareholder of a biofuel company called BioGreen, Jeanine Ferrigno has an unexpected connection with mobster Alex Gazarian, who may have something to do with Mickey’s murder case.

A no-nonsense FBI Agent, Dawn Ruth has long been building a case to expose a massive biofuel subsidies scam operation. Because Sam was involved, Mickey believes Agent Ruth may have information that could help prove his innocence.  But that doesn’t go over well with the feds. At the end of Episode 4, two FBI agents show up at Mickey’s home and threaten him. 

NCIS, Mission: Impossible III

On a quick stop at Bristol Farms for the ingredients to make a new pasta recipe, Mickey catches a mystery woman eyeing him from across the produce aisle. Just as he’s leaving, she approaches Mickey in the grocery store parking lot, but before the stranger is able to officially introduce herself, she pulls him to the ground as gunshots fire. Once they’re safe again, the mysterious woman reveals she’s Mickey’s sister!

The Avengers, How I Met Your Mother, Safe Haven

Jack is an orthopedic surgeon who Maggie has been dating for about six months. There’s understandably some awkwardness between Jack and Mickey, especially as Maggie steps up to support her ex through his trial — and after Mickey finds out Jack is a Padres fan.

Has Mickey Haller met his match in the courtroom? Meet Andrea Freemann, a ruthless prosecutor and Mickey’s undefeated courtroom rival, who’s introduced in Season 2. She’s also a close friend of Mickey’s ex-wife, Maggie, to boot. But there’s at least one thing the two legal pros have in common: They both certainly know how to rock a power suit.

DaCosta knows what it takes to be on top. You may recognize her from America’s Next Top Model, as she was the runner-up of the competition series’ third season.

Gloria Dayton (aka Glory Days) is a sex worker who helps Mickey on a case in Season 2. At the end of Season 2, she appears again in a more tragic circumstance. Mickey’s new client Julian Lacosse (Devon Graye) has been accused of killing someone named Giselle Dallinger. When Mickey goes to the morgue, he discovers Giselle is actually Gloria. 

Tracker, I Know What You Did Last Summer

Julian La Cosse is Mickey’s client in Season 3. He’s been accused of killing Giselle Dallinger, who turns out to be Mickey’s friend Glory Days. 

Dexter

Judge Regina Turner is a former public defender who’s younger and more progressive than most judges in the district — but whether that’s a benefit to Mickey or not, remains to be seen. Find out in Season 3.

King of Queens, Big Little Lies, Lucifer

Allyn Moriyon makes his television debut as Eddie Rojas, a fitness buff (and former babysitter to Mickey’s daughter, Hayley) who’s in need of a very good lawyer in Season 3. Luckily, Mickey is able to help, and then offers him the opportunity of a lifetime.

This is Allyn’s first role. 

William Forsythe is a seemingly nonthreatening prosecutor who Mickey’s excited to go up against in Season 3. Once the trial starts, however, it’s clear that nothing’s as it seems. 

Barry, Twin Peaks 

Adam Suarez is the chief deputy district attorney, to whom prosecutor Andrea Freemann reports in Season 3. He’s a force to reckon with.

Star Wars Rebels, The Company You Keep, Days of Our Lives

Neil Bishop plays a shady ex-cop who butts heads with Mickey in and out of the courtroom throughout Season 3. 

The Ice Road, Wrath of Man

Mickey’s most prominent client in Season 1 is the rich, calculating CEO of a video game company who’s accused of killing his wife and her lover, a yoga instructor. While the Lincoln Lawyer convinces the jury to find Trevor “not guilty,” it turns out, he actually was guilty of killing his wife ... because she was the real brains behind his company’s operation and she was going to come clean. Justice did come for Trevor though, through a “brass knuckle verdict” — his wife’s lover’s other lover shot him at a press conference. While things don’t end well for Trevor, Mickey’s performance in the high-profile trial earns him a whole new roster of clients and press engagements to deal with in Season 2.
