On Nov. 6, 1983, Will Byers disappeared into the Upside Down, and the town of Hawkins, Indiana, was changed forever. The time has come, nerds, for the anniversary of the day that started it all.
In celebration of Stranger Things Day — and the upcoming release of the show’s fifth and final season — Stranger Things: The First Shadow, the Tony Award–winning play based on the hit Netflix series, will host a Homecoming Week event packed with freebies, photo ops, and fan activities in New York City.
Festivities kick off on Nov. 4, when fans can snag free tickets to the Broadway show at the Times Square location of Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers. Tickets will be released every hour at an in-store DJ booth (from 11am-7pm), and (bonus points!) the first 200 attendees of that evening’s show will be gifted a free Raising Cane’s Box Combo meal. Audience members are invited to check out with a friendship bracelet–making station set up in the Marquis Theatre lobby. It’s the perfect gift for the Steve to your Dustin, the Max to your Eleven, or the Hopper to your Joyce.
The fun continues on Nov. 5 with yearbook style photo sessions from Lifetouch at the Marquis Theatre, the Broadway home of Stranger Things: The First Shadow (the production also has performances in London’s West End). Costumes are encouraged, so don’t be afraid to go full Vecna. On the anniversary of Will’s disappearance — known as Stranger Things Day — showgoers can enjoy a talkback with the play’s cast, and walk away with special window cards.
