Class is officially in session — and it doesn’t require homework.
In SCHOOLED!, the viral inventor and former NASA engineer Mark Rober opens the doors to his fully gamified laboratory, where teams of young innovators face off in wildly imaginative, high-stakes science experiments that get bigger (and more explosive) with every round. Coming soon to Netflix, the new series will be produced by Rober’s CrunchLabs in partnership with Kimmelot, Jimmy Kimmel’s production company. Kimmel will also executive produce.
But this competition is about a lot more than who can make the biggest volcano replica. It’s about creativity under pressure, fearless problem-solving, and the kind of outside-the-box thinking that goes uncelebrated on a typical report card. With each escalating challenge, the next generation of makers, inventors, and engineers will get closer to winning a life-changing prize.
“I couldn’t be more stoked to team up with Netflix and Jimmy Kimmel to bring SCHOOLED! to life,” says Rober. “Our series is about giving kids a stage big enough for their ideas. This will be the ultimate playground for science, creativity, and competition to come together. I’m so pumped to see what these students come up with. My expectations are high. I’m ready to be blown away.” Think you have what it takes to be America’s next great science superstar? Casting is now open.
Rober has spent his career encouraging kids to “think and build like an engineer” — everywhere from CrunchLabs, where he designs STEM toys, to his YouTube channel, where he shares his love of science with 72.9 million subscribers. Whether he’s blowing up a 24-story building or proving he can escape from Alcatraz, Rober continues to push the boundaries of innovative entertainment.
SCHOOLED! joins Rober’s expanding library on Netflix, including Mark Rober’s CrunchLabs. He also co-starred in the Elmo and Mark Rober’s Merry Giftmas special, and was on the team of correspondents for Skyscraper Live.
“Mark Rober is a master of the ‘wow’ moment, and we’ve seen firsthand how much our members love his unique brand of science-fueled spectacle,” said John Derderian, Netflix’s Vice President of Animation Series, Kids & Family TV.
According to Derderian, Netflix plans to take Rober’s energy to the next level with SCHOOLED!. “It isn’t just a competition; it’s a celebration of creativity and engineering,” he continues. “It’s exactly the kind of co-viewing experience that brings families together, and we can’t wait to see what these young makers and tinkerers create in the halls of CrunchLabs Academy.”
